Redeeming your Reward Points incurs a Transaction Fee

You don't charge a transaction fee if you buy a free book, why charge a transaction fee if your total can be paid for wholly by your reward points? That doesn't involve any credit checking, or visa payments or admin cost surely? Seems unfair.

  • It may not be necessary. Chances are the transaction fee was assessed based on the small amount charged regardless of the payment method. Please let me know to which order you are referring and I will investigate the issue. You can also email us directly at support@booksonboard.com and our technicians will be of assistance.

    Thanks,

  • This is an image of My Cart with my $1 reward applied. My purchases came to .82 cents so $1 reward should have covered it.

The Cart total in this screenshot comes to $1.07, therefore the $1.00 in Rewards Dollars is not quite enough. Please note the transaction fee doesn't have anything to do with using a credit card. This fee is applied to ALL orders that total between $0.01 and $4.99, regardless of payment method.

There is a difference between free books and non-free books in the way distributors charge for download rights. Very often, inexpensive books can produce a loss for the site, and the transaction fee is meant to help offset that loss. This is not so much a concern with the free titles which is why you don't see a transaction fee with those. If you are interested in purchasing multiple books, it is best to combine them into the same order to help avoid this fee (as previously mentioned here: https://getsatisfaction.com/booksonbo...
