Is there a way to copy the Entry Title to the NavEE Text field?

I am trying to make NavEE insanely easy for my clients to use. Since we do not use the Pages module, is there a way to make the Entry Title auto-copy to the NavEE Text field?

Also, how can I make it so Content Editor Member Group do not have access to DELETE entries but still allow Add Item? Is this possible?

  • Hey Bryan!

    These are both AWESOME ideas. For the first one, we could definitely look into building something which defaults the entry title into the field type. Maybe something you could configure in the config screen.

    The other one is something we already have in research. We are definitely going to build in the functionality to limit which nav group different member groups can see - but perhaps we should go one step further and allow the superadmin to dole out rights like (create, delete) or something like that. I am going to change this entry to an idea so other people can weigh in.

  • Thanks Michael. Both features would be great and used by many I am sure.

    It would be very helpful to just auto-copy the Entry Title that the user types in just like the url_title field does. That way if someone wants to change it they can just retype over it. I think 90% of the time the same text will be used for Entry Title and NavEE Text though.

    We have EE setup so that members cannot delete posts created by other members. This will stop the entry from being removed, but offers no protection for NavEE entries.

    Hello.

    This could be done.. but as far as I know, you may have to edit the navee.js by just dropping in:

    var titleField = $('#title');

    if(titleField.val() != ''){
    var autoPopulateValue = titleField.val();
    $('.naveeFieldtype input[name="naveeText"]').val(autoPopulateValue);
    }

    titleField.on('change', this, function(e){
    $('.naveeFieldtype input[name="naveeText"]').val(e.target.value);
    }).keyup(function(){
    titleField.change();
    });

    It will copy an existing title, and also mirror when editing the default EE title field. Hope it helps!

    (btw.. NavEE is great :) )
