Is there any way Boxee could support Amazon's Video On Demand? Since Amazon let's users stream the content it should be theoretically possible. I would greatly appreciate it.

It's a year later ... How about suggesting it again? 1) it would be nice if Amazon's streamed movies could be streamed with Boxee Box into my TV. 2) It would really be nice if movies purchased on Amazon could be downloaded into external storage connected to Boxee Box and then streamed to the TV for a no-delay movie watching experience.

I'm with Konrad. I have a boxee on my primary media tv and a roku on my secondary (bedroom) tv. It kinda stinks that I can rent/watch new movies cheap on AoD on my bedroom tv, but not my full-fledged media center running boxee. Vudu has a lot of the same movies, but usually for twice the fee. Roku has both Netflix and AoD, so I don't think there is any sort of "non-compete" issue... it seems like a no brainer to implement this.

With the removal of Netflix, Pandora and Vudu from v1.5, it looks like this is getting further and further away from reality. Your best bet is a Roku box or using XBMC using third-party add-ons whether that's the PC app or Apple TV version.

I think this would be in Amazon's best interest - it will also give folks who for whatever reason don't subscribe to Netflix, another option for legal streaming movies. Does Amazon do the streaming video service in other countries as well? The internationalization aspect would also be a good reason to go for it.

I would love to be able to view the digital movies I have already bought through Amazon on Boxee, that would be so cool. Personally I'd buy more through Amazon if I could watch them in Boxee. I realize they'd have to be streamed (because or drm) but that's fine with me...at least to start.

In the EU the Amazon DVD service is run by Lovefilm, so lets hope this is going to work for Lovefilm users too.

maybe the reason not getting it is financial? If that is the case Amazon should cough up and help this would mean more revenue for it.

Amazon VOD is a great idea for a new app...it is better than Netflix, and has a wide variety of content. I personally would purchase a LOT of content if I could store it within boxee :)

I like the idea. It would be another app however that will not be able to work in Linux flavor.

This would be very handy. Nothing wrong with making Boxee even more robust if it serves many. I really like having a variety of choices (which Boxee is already so good at!). I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one.

Any updates on this Boxee team? I saw you changed the status to 'Under Consideration' but that could mean one of a million things :). This would complete the picture for me considering Boxee can literally do everything else. I would probably never have to buy real media ever again...unless I needed instant gratification, but that's what Amazon Prime is for (almost)!

I'd really like this; it would be especially great for Linux users who don't have Netflix Watch-it-Now support.

Would this be able to support HD? Currently only approved hardware devices can support the HD on demand.

Just wanted to add my support for this - video on demand is the future of Boxee and probably would add an important revenue stream for boxee. I'm sure that from the price of the Amazon rental a certain % would go to Boxee, supporting future development but also giving Boxee users a huge catalog to choose from.

Waiting patiently, hopefully will hear a big announcement about this soon!

This needs to be done. I used to buy all my movies using iTunes, but found that the convenience of watching all my movies anywhere using AVoD was worth any higher costs (and their are none).

However, I do still have iTunes movies and now my AVoD movies and none of them work in Boxee. This is due to DRM, but if Boxee would support the AVoD web player, then I could watch all of my Amazon VoD movies in Boxee and watch the rest of my movies on my iPod (or using the Blu-ray, iTunes Digital Copy, or DVD copy in Boxee with Harry Potter 6).

Please take this idea beyond consideration. I am pretty sure that Amazon would love to do this. It could be a simple App (with the Video Library Interface and the web Player) or it could be connected with the Movies section, removing any need for the Amazon VoD Video Library Interface and streamlining everything.

+1 for Amazon.
doesnt Amazon use flash. If it does I really can't see what the hold up on this.

it does use Flash. However, the hold up is the fact that Amazon is a big brand and the Boxee team is probably wanting to make a large # of people happy by implementing an Amazon VOD Storefront into Boxee, so you could log in and rent or buy movies inside Boxee, as well as view and watch your owned/rented titles. I would like this to be integrated with the Movies panel and not be a separate app. That is my biggest thing. If it is a separate app, I'll still use it, but I would much rather it be connected and seamless (so that my Amazon VOD movies show up with my local content and I can access my Amazon VOD account, and the store, directly from the Movies section of Boxee)

Yes, BUT NOT AS AN APP!

Like an actual implementation into the service like how Hulu and NBC is implemented and shows up as a source when you click on a show or movie.

This should also include Blockbuster Streaming, Netflix Streaming, and other Cable Service On-Demand

The Amazon service in the UK is run by Lovefilm, so lets hope for UK users this means we will get Lovefilm access on Boxee as a side affect.
