LCD quit working!

  • Problem
  • Updated 2 years ago
The LCD on my Smart Oven (which I purchased 7 months ago) has stopped working, so now I can hardly see the settings. I've e-mailed Breville about this, but so far no answer. Why did it stop working? I've done some Google searches on this and it seems 7 months is the key number if the LCD is going to go kaput.

First, we I must respectfully disagree with your opening sentence. This is a known issue. This is about a light going out. If there were any other reasons for the problem, that a customer could handle, I would think someone would post it. The units are being sent back for replacements.
Don'tcha just hate when people say, "having said that... " but...
I CANNOT WAIT TO BUY ANOTHER BREVILLE PRODUCT!!!
I called, I gave them a serial number. They emailed me aprepaid fedX label.
Bing, Bang, BOOM!! I had it back in 10 days. Brand new, in the box. New colors for the panel now. I love the oven,, and I love Breville!

Hello Scott,

We've not had issues with the new design and if you would like, please go ahead and email us the following information and we'll get to work on assisting you with your oven.

• Your proof of purchase/receipt
• The unit’s model number
• The Batch Code (3 or 4 digit number stamped or engraved into the bottom or back of the unit)
• Your complete physical shipping address with phone number.

Thank you.

call Breville. They will have you give them some numbers off of the oven. Mine was replaced. You don"t call, they don't know :)

Same problem here .... sent an email, was bounced back because their email server didn't respond in 2 days. I just assumed the LCD problem was a fluke problem until I came here out of curiosity while registering a deep fryer.

Hello Michael,

I am so sorry that you have had an issue with the email bouncing back! If you don't mind, could you please send us an email again and I'll keep an eye out for it and reply as soon as I see it.

Thank you,

I have the same problem. After only 2 years the LCD display has gone out on my Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven. As expensive as this oven was I would have thought the LCD display would have last more than 2 years. The oven is now out of warranty. Will never buy Breville products again.

I'm having the same problem. LCD is out, oven won't turn on. Very frustrating. I've had this since Christmas but haven't used it maybe 20 times.

The blue backlight on the LCD display on my BOV800XL Smart Oven also broke! What's going on? There are so many customers here with the same issue! This is very odd.

I am going to write to their customer service email but since I purchased teh unit over 2 years ago I don't have high expectations about getting any help with this.

So here we are 8 days later, and Breville still hasn't answered my email to their support staff. Where is the Customer Service everybody seems to be raving about?

John T., and everyone else...why wouldn't you simply call Breville??? Be in front of the oven. They're going to ask you for some numbers.

@ johndaddyo: I am going to call next - although apparently an email is what Breville Support requests.

The instructions posted in this forum by "Breville Support" are clear: Send an email using the customer support form at AskUs@BrevilleUSA.com with a detailed description of the problem, and make sure to include the embossed unit number found on the back of the unit.

This is what I did, some 10 ago now, but I never received a reply.
