From an email:
I went thru the first step entered my credit card number was prompted to enroll in some kind of credit card protection -- not interested.
The credit card protection is administered by your bank (e.g. Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode) -- it's basically a password to make your credit card purchases more secure. And, since it showed up, it is also *required* by your bank, so your bank won't authorize without it. Thus, it's not just some other protection service, it's integral. I hope I explained it well.
If you're not interested in setting up your credit card protection password with your bank, try another card, I guess. Perhaps it won't have the same requirements.
All the best,
