Carmex Helps To Keep The Memory Of My First Love Alive

Carmex helps to keep my fond memories alive... It was the summer of 1976 & I had met my first love a perfect ten blue eyed blonde drum majorette from Wellington, Texas. Omg! She wore "Charlie" by Revlon & she carried a jar of "Carmex." We would sit for hours in my ole '63' Impala 2dr on the main drag. She had this extra long crochet necklace that was long enough to go over both of our heads at the same time. Poor car windows stayed fogged up all the time lol. Without Carmex...our lips would have never surived all that kissing lol. Now of course it's rare to find a woman who still wears Charlie perfume, but it gives me goose bumps every time I smell it. I lost the girl of my dreams, but I still got my Carmex....which is a constant reminder of the love I once held in my arms.... Waynedog

    Hi Wayne.

This is one of the best Carmex memories that I've read in my 19 years of being here. You have a flair for writing a brief succinct story. Thanks for sharing it. Wow... I haven't thought about Charlie in years! We must be of similar ages. I'm 53 and graduated high school in 1974. Cool car you describe, too. My brother is the car guy in my family. I'm the motorcycle guy.

If you would please, send me your address along with a note reminding me about this exchange. I'd like to send you a supply of Carmex (including one of our original glass jars). My address is:

Paul I love the ole classics like BSA, Triump, Indians, & Harleys. My first bike was a Mobilette made in France. I paid $99.50 for it new at a bike shop in Lubbock, Texas around the mid 60's. I was too young to have my license lol....when I would see the cops I would kill the motor and start pedaling lol. Every once in a while they'd catch me, and make me push the thing home lol.
The below picture is the last bike I owned out of about six bikes. It got so worn-out I sold it last spring. I'll eventually get me another one, because it's in my blood....you know?

Cool pictures. Below is one of me on a 1949 EL Harley (Panhead) that I rode to work this past summer on National Ride your Bike to work Day:

    Hi Wayne.

That's my '49 Harley EL. I bought that bike 15 years ago. Although restored absolutely correctly, in retrospect I should have left it alone and rode it with its original dulled black paint. The bike had remarkably low mileage when I got it; under 15,000 original miles. I now know better and have left subsequent original paint bikes pretty much alone. The engines might get rebuilt along with other mechanical maintenance necessary to make it run well but I try to leave them be. My two favorite riding bikes are a '48 FL (Panhead) and a '52 Vincent Black Shadow.

Glad to hear that you like the lime. We also have a really nice pomegranate stick with SPF 15 coming out this fall.
