Data?

Your website is definitely more aesthetically pleasing then some (AIMsWeb for example). On the other hand, you are missing some key features that would entice districts to want to use your site. This one is very similar to Class Dojo. What's missing is the friendliness to kids, ability to track specific behaviors, awarding badges, etc. If you want something that will be loved by teachers and districts, make it easier to put the reason for each positive or negative point, and also be able to modify the behaviors being tracked on individual students who are on behavior plans. Administrators will not listen to a teacher who comes in and says that a student is doing well or needs more help because they had several days with -5 points. They will want to know what that means, how often behaviors are occuring, etc. It would also be great to have actual graphs and pieces of data teachers can use. Also, have a demo class/charts/etc that people can look at without having to put their school in and make up students in a class. Make it easier for people to see what your site is about before doing all the leg work.

  • Hi Katie,
Thanks for taking the time to leave such thoughtful feedback. While data isn't logged (besides +/-) on each interaction, it is maintained via minor and major discipline reports which are created on accumulating losses of points. Charts and other visual data are in the works.

We're working hard to make Chartsome more useful to teachers and will keep your comments in mind as we improve. Thanks!

  • No problem-- I was in a hurry writing the comment before so I wanted to come back and say how much work it looks like you've put into this site. It really does have an appealing look, very simplistic which is good for students and teachers who are going to be projecting it in the classroom.

I really like the feature that you can connect the school's together and have a teacher add a student that has already been entered.

  • Thanks again Katie... most of the summer was spent on the design of the site. We're working hard at making it better. I myself am using chartsome in the classroom this year. We've already started school, and using it daily has given me many new ideas to make the site better.

Best wishes for the 2012-13 school year!
