Cannot get Node.JS app to connect to clearDB in Heroku environment

I've spent a day trying to get my Node.js app (deployed on heroku) to connect to my clearDB database.

Code here if you want to see: https://github.com/mikebutak/Swatch-B...

I can see if there are any live connections to the database by logging into clearDB.com.

The only way I can get any live connection to register on clearDB.com is to use Sequel Pro locally to make a connection. It wakes up. But using the same exact config (host/url, db name, username, password) in my heroku environment does not successfully create connection.

If I use postman to make a post request designed specifically for testing the database (add a record, then retrieve it), I get the following error: "Error adding color: Error: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:3306" s gotta be something in my settings.
