Changing ClearDB Url in the Heroku App Settings Config Vars

Changed ClearDB Url in Heroku Settings Config Vars for the App and then on the heroku dashboard for the app when i click ClearDB, it takes to the previous DB instance dashboard.

Is this a bug ? How can I see the dashboard of the new ClearDB url configured ?

  • Hello,

I'm not quite sure what you're describing when you say you "click ClearDB". But please note that the config vars and the CLEARDB_DATABASE_URL in the Heroku console only contain information about your database itself. Your Heroku account remains associated with the ClearDB account that was originally spawned when you first created a ClearDB addon.

You should probably contact Heroku support. If I'm understanding your question properly it has to do with operation of the Heroku account page, and ClearDB doesn't have any visibility into that system.

    I'm sorry I can't give you a better answer.

  • Mike - from your answer if I quote "Your Heroku account remains associated with the ClearDB account that was originally spawned when you first created a ClearDB addon. "

This is what i want to change, steps as below
    1) Created App1 and provisioned ClearDB - instance1
    2) Created App2 and provisioned ClearDB - instance2
    3) Now need App2 to use ClearDB - instance 1
    4) For this went to App2 Heroku Settings and changed Config Vars to point to ClearDB-instance1
    5) Came back to App2 Dashboard and click on ClearDB MySQL Add on
    6) It takes me to ClearDB dashboard i.e. https://www.cleardb.com/dashboard? but that's still showing ClearDB - instance 2

Should #6 not take the Config Var url and then open it on Cleardb Dashboard ?

    Thanks,
    Deepesh

  • Hello,

    Thanks for clarifying.

That's definitely a question for Heroku support; but my understanding is that the App remains permanently associated with the add-on it provisions, even if you change the config vars. But again, Heroku support will be able to give you a definitive answer.
