Move MySQL from one Azure subscription to another.

I need to migrate all data and services from one Azure subscription to another. How can I move the ClearDB over? Microsoft will move my Azure Web Site, but cannot move the MySQL db.

  • Hello,

If your old subscription is still active - not suspended or disabled - your database will migrate automatically when Microsoft migrates your site. If that is not the case, if your old subscription is no longer active, we need the following information in order to perform the migration:

    The database name
    The old subscription ID
    The new subscription ID

  • Is this still the case with app services with mysql from cleardb deployed in azure resource manager?

Can you point to documentation or instruction for this process?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

I'm afraid the information above is outdated. We found there were just too many problems with performing migrations - the likelihood of a data mismatch between our systems and Azure's was too high; when Azure discovered a data mismatch it could trigger a deletion of the resources without warning.

Therefore we no longer migrate resources between subscriptions. Instead, we advise customers to provision a new database in the new subscription and migrate their data from their existing db to the new.

If you need assistance with this process, please open a Support ticket so that we can give you specific advice based on your account configuration.

    Thanks.
