This is my second time using silverback. First time worked great. Now I'm about to trash it.
The first project involved ~14 users with sessions ranging from half an hour to over an hour. Total project was ~10gb according to the app and that matched the size of the project folder under app support.
Fast forward a year.
Now, I've got 8-9 sessions of about 45-60 mins each. The app says that the project is 7.5gb, but the folder in app support is a whopping 113Gb! It is eating up 10-15 gigs per recording and I've had to dump almost every non-essential item on my hard drive to accommodate. I'm in the middle of testing and don't have time to export everything.
Why is it so different this time?
Yeah - that would make sense if there's a lot more being captured on screen during the tests. Although as you say, there's still an issue with what Silverback is reporting, so I'll raise this as an issue for us to look at in the next development iteration.
I have this same experience when video recording the video of a smartphone/tablet. I use an ipevo point2view camera (with the software app that displays the video of that camera on screen). the point2view camera points at the smartphone/tablet so then silverback is recording the video of that camera. for a 40-50minute usability interview the typical filesize is 20-30gb. the first time that happened (a year or 2 ago) i was flabbergasted. now i just always being an external drive and have silverback record to an external drive. it's a diskspace hog and i'm glad there are 1tb usb drives at reasonable prices nowadays.
