Help with Match Selection and Events

I'm new to clubbuzz. Just wondering if someone can explain the difference between 'match selection' and 'event'. I have put some information on an event ie training session but I would like to send it out as availability to see who can/cannot attend.  Is there an easy way of doing that?

Matches allow for selection and emailed requests, but events are simply to populate the calendar so are not used to invite players

Is event selection something that is a possible for future inclusion?
