How to add members who do not have email addresses?

We want to manage our members using clubbuzz but we have several junior members without email adresses, and that is a required field. We thought to create a dummy email adress and re-use it but re-use of email addresses are not allowed. Last idea to create create unique false email address for everyone who cannot supply one - the email will bounce because the address is false, and the member will never access the website, but at least we will ahve their information in the database and can use it for reporting. Will that work? Is there a better way?

We are looking at this issue but for now if you don't require a member to login and just want to have a record of them in your database the dummy email address will work - suggest that wherever possible though you do encourage members/parents to register an email address

Thanks for the response Sarah.

We think we can get round it by using the + attribute in emails, which clubbuzz validation doesn't consider a duplicate but actually results in the email going to the same address. e.g. benbyron@hotmail.com automatically goes to same place as benbyron+2@hotmail.com (yes, really).

I did a test and an email was just received once in my account so seems like that is the way forward unless you have a neater way for us?

its been working for us. what didn't work? you couldn't add the address with a +x into club-buzz, or you didn't get an email sent to your email address, or you got 2 emails sent and not one?

Hi Ben,

I added +2 to my usual email address and sent myself an email and I got a failure notice from yahoo saying it didn't recognise the address. Just tried again, with the same result.

checking the +2 was before the @ symbol in your address?

I just emailed from my hotmail account itself and also from my work account to benbyron+2@hotmail.com and both emails came through.

maybe something with yahoo then. you could also try to send from a different account to your yahoo e.g. from work.
