I would like to be able to specify the type of data for the custom member fields.
For example only allow numbers, text or radio box/selection list in the field.

One question we ask is if it's okay to use photo graphs on our website. It's a yes/no question and I'd like to have a radio box with just those two options. Pitchero does this aspect well but I found bugs in the implementation that limited it's usefulness.

It would also be nice to have a description (e.g. the full question asked of the member) and a "name" for the filed that is used when viewing the tabulated information.

Optional and mandatory fields would be nice too.

We didn't add this to our development list at the last meeting due to other items being more supported within this forum, however will continue to monitor feedback on this and revisit at our next meeting

We'd love to be able to do this too to be able to record set values like ethnicity, and to be able to make fields like 'previous club and date last played' mandatory.

This is a good idea, if people Like it at the top of this page does that get more attention or are comments better?

We really need to add mandatory or optional custom fields.  We would also like a customised drop down selector and validation on date entry.  We are required by our NGB to collect certain information like ethnicity and will have to revert to paper forms if we can't do this.

England Hockey.  They require a membership breakdown by ethnic group each year. Also by age, male/female. We also want to collect which school they attend.  A==

Pleased to say we have just added option to collect ethnicity data:

In website settings select the option to collect ethnicity data
Then in member profile all members when next saving their data will be asked to select ethnic background from a drop down list which includes option - prefer not to say
In member reports you can report on club data with male adult/female adult/male under 18 and female u18 as standard fields with a total of all club members

Looks like we have a problem with applications.  It's asking them to complete ethnicity but it's not on the form? (I've tried all three). Help!

Thanks Sarah, this is useful and I have just activated.

Hopefully, similar mandatory drop downs to follow on other things like CRB checks and dates, disability and Junior photo publishing opt out.

We'd also like mandatory fields on Qualifications (not necessarily drop down as that would be too difficult) - coaching and umpiring in particular.

I know some  of this will be part of your current priority work.

CUSTOM FIELDS in the membership form have been improved to:

1.        Allow you to make a field mandatory

2.       Allow you to add a list of options for the member to select from

This new feature is as a result of a number of club led requests and we believe adds real value to your sites.

So for example you can now collect important information like permission for photographs to be used or consent to club terms and conditions or helpful information (which may be set as non-mandatory) such as area you work in, school you attend etc.

To use this feature simply add as many custom fields as required and they will appear in the same order on the members profile page.  The options for you to complete are as follows:

Field Label – what the member sees and is used in your custom attributes report

Description – helps the member better understand the data you are collect and why it is needed

Mandatory – if you want to make this mandatory please check this box, please consider GDPR implications of collecting data to ensure it is necessary and used as you state. Once those boxes are completed for the first custom field click save custom fields. Then you are presented with “choices”.

Complete choices – if you want the member to select from a drop down then please add in all your choices here and save again.  Remember if a field is only applicable to adults or junior put a “not applicable” option in.

Complete this for each of the custom fields you wish to capture.

There is a report in member reports which allows you to see all these fields in a downloadable format (member custom attributes).

Thank you Sarah much appreciated

Having got most of the members data input in the "old" way - is there a method of exporting it, redefining the custom fields and then re populating?

No I'm afraid not, you can export the current fields but we don't give an option to import these fie

This is really great Sarah, an excellent development, thank you!

Would there be a chance of a date field in future (ie date qualified to)?

Either way great stuff
