Why can't I post a transaction earlier than "today"?

When I create manual postings in the accounting package I am limited to selecting the date as either today, or a day in the future. I would like to be able to input the postings at the end of each week and reflect the dates they were incurred accurately.

Is this expected behaviour? Maybe I am missing something.

Thanks
James

We agree - accounting package needs to be able to accurately reflect dates of when something is paid, charged or rebated - this should apply across the system to member accounts too - only exception is that previous 'sealed' accounts from prior season dates should be locked out

Thanks for the input, it will also mean that come the end of the financial year I will have to be on my PC on the 31st March 2020 in order to ensure I get my accounts correct. This issue will probably affect whether I renew the Gold Package as it is quite a show stopper for me.

In terms of year end you do have an option to modify year end and add in past transactions before sealing the year end accounts which should help with your concerns there,

However I do understand the frustration and we will look at what changes would be required to accurately reflect dates bearing in mind we have to consider when member statements are issued and how back dated transactions would then be handled.

Hi Sarah,

Do you have an update on this and when you can expect to implement this fix?

Thanks
James

James, in terms of this it's not so much a fix, the system has been designed specifically in this way because of the way statements are applied each month.  If transactions are backdated it could affect a member who has already received or paid their statement.  We need to consider whether we can enable this, or perhaps look at this for items that don't affect member statements but we do need to consult closely with clubs on this matter before we implement changes that could seriously affect member payments,  This will be looked at in time but it's not something that is going to be implemented in the near future

Okay, thanks for the quick and detailed response Sarah. I agree that where it does not affect the member statements it would make sense.
