We NEED Pinterest button Integration... NOW. (fastest growing social commerce website).

So, the other day I try to add the Pinterest button to my product page. Unfortunately it's not all black and white like the facebook and Google + button. This button requires a product image URL, product URL and description. Here's the page: http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/.

Their links are dofollow right now!!! WOW.

Here's a view of Pinterest growth:

You can add the pinterest code on a product-by-product basis. It's a pain but it's doable.

I think this is a GREAT idea!!! Pinterest is HUGE now and it can really help our businesses if we can get that button integration! :) Thanks, Core Commerce, for looking into this for us!

Bigcommerce has it - not out of the box but I asked their support and they had it implemented on my site in an hour at no charge.

Why not use AddThis? That way you have a lot of analytics at your fingertips about what is being shared and clicked on, and you don't have to wait for CC to update their code.

You can easily turn off the the Facebook Like, Facebook Share, & Tweet buttons and just turn on AddThis code for every product.

Simply go to Settings -> Inventory -> Products tab and then scroll down to:

Use that to turn on/off what you need for every product.

Pretty handy!

Your AddThis code will look something like this:

Of course, that code will go in the AddThis section in Settings -> Plugin Settings -> AddThis tab

Hope that someone finds this useful.

Cheers!

Ok, I now see that Pinning something doesn't pull the product image and text as needed.

Well, at least maybe someone can use what I wrote as a guide to just use AddThis. :)

If we had a way to drop in the canonical URL and the URL to the product image, we could make it work.

CC dev team, are there tokens available for these two items? If so, we could modiy the above Pinterest AddThis code to read something like this:

<a class="addthis_button_pinterest_pinit" pi:pinit:media="IMAGETOKEN" pi:pinit:url="URLTOKEN" ></a>

Hey guys, sorry for no response, but Pinterest is coming. We thought it would be in the last release, but we just couldn't fit it in. So, it's planned to be on the next release next month.

Found us on Pinterest by searching "Angry Birds" Squawk!

Our CC site doesn't have the PIN button yet, we want to make sure it won't affect the Like and Tweet count if we add it on Addthis.

Can anyone confirm there will be no conflict when we update it?
Thanks!

Pinterest is MAJOR and definitely cannot be left out of our social media marketing mix as website owners- especially since we are selling products and or services.

Please please please add a Pinterest button to the site's social media plug-ins... its growth is gaining speed and is now seen to become just as important as Facebook and Twitter.

No question Pinterest is the hot social thing now. I am just not sure how it will help my sales. Am I missing something?

Apparently, Pinterest changed their link structure to “nofollow” just a few weeks ago. There are still some links on the site that are “dofollow” but they’re forced to be your domain name. In your case that probably won’t help you much in terms of SEO/Google benefits.

This would be very useful, both in terms of direct traffic and backlinks.

Google has been lying about "nofollow" for a long time. At best it's flag to look at the link more carefully before passing any juice (and I suspect in a lot of non-platform specific applications it simply flags sites as being SEO'd and subject to greater scrutiny).

There are many other items I'd like to see in corecommerce before a pinterest icon/link.

We have the facebook and twitter links today on each product and nobody clicks on those.

Plus most people use the bookmarks to Pin things they don't rely on sites to have a Pinterest link on the individual items. There are many ecommerce only retailers that don't have a pinterest links for products but have vibrant pinboards.

I tend to agree with Jeremy. Pinterest is clearly very hot right now but I think there are more important things that would benefit the entire CC family more. Jeremy's site seemed to have incorporated Pinterest creatively into a banner. We also have Twitter & Facebook icons that are rarely used.
