Managing Email & Notifications

Email notifications are the primary way to get notified of new activity on Get Satisfaction. Read this article to learn about the different email notifications, and how to manage your preferences.

Email Notifications for Community Members

By default, community members will receive email notifications when new replies or comments are posted on conversations that they either created, replied to, or have chosen to follow. Read this section to learn how to manage your subscription preferences.

Community members can also choose to receive email notifications for conversations they have not participated in by clicking the “follow” button. They may also follow a category, which will send an email notification each time a new conversation is created with the particular category associated with it.

Email notifications will come from noreply.yourcommunityname@getsatisfaction.com with the name of your community as the sender name. It is recommended that community members add this email address to their address books to help ensure proper delivery.

Email Notifications for Employees

By default, community employees will receive email notifications when new replies or comments are posted on conversations that they either created, replied to, or have chosen to follow. Employees also have the option of subscribing to all new conversations that are posted in a community, as well as every new conversation, reply and comment. Read this section for information on updating your subscription preferences.

It is recommended that community members add this email address to their address books to help ensure proper delivery. Community employees will *not* receive email notifications for conversations, replies, or comments that they posted in the community.

Subscribing/ unsubscribing from a particular conversation

Often times community members want to keep their email notifications turned on, but simply unsubscribe from emails about a specific conversation. In order to do this, simply click the “unfollow” link on the conversation. Users can also click the “Stop following this …” link that is in the notification email.

Subscribing/ unsubscribing from a category

When a category is followed, community members and employees will receive email notifications for each new topic that has been posted and tagged with that category. In order to follow a category, simply navigate to the product page and click the “follow” button. This button behaves as an on/ off switch, so to unfollow, simply click it again to unfollow.

Subscribing/ unsubscribing from everything

If you don’t want to receive any email notifications whatsoever, simply log into your user profile and navigate to the Email & Notifications page. Then, uncheck the box next to the text “Send me emails at my primary email address about new replies on topics I have posted, replied to, or followed” and/ or, “Send me emails at my primary email address about new topics posted on products that I follow,” and click save. You should no longer receive emails from Get Satisfaction about topics that you have participated in or followed, or new topics in products that you have followed.

Uncheck the boxes and click “Save” to unsubscribe from all notifications

 

Employees also have the option of subscribing to all new conversations that are posted in a community, as well as every new conversation, reply and comment. These company-specific email notifications are located below the conversation (topic) and category (product) email notification settings. Check off the appropriate box and click “Save” to enable.

RSS Feeds

Community employees can elect to receive an RSS feed of the newest topics as well as all topics that have new activity. The RSS feed is available directly underneath the company notifications section.

Note: RSS feeds are not available for private communities in order to protect the privacy of the content.
