Match filter on CS9

A few problems with the new match filter on CS9

1. The cursor position always seems to default to the oldest match, even when the sort order pushes that to the bottom of the list. Should the cursor not default to the top of the list?

2. The list of teams and grades in the dropdown are listed in order of when they were created in Cricket Statz.

Is it a big problem to have them in alphabetical order instead? It defeats the object as I have to go through the teams one by one to find the one I am looking for!

Everything else good so far though!

Point 2 will be easy fixed. Consider it done.

Question on Point 1 - what build are you currently running?

Just a question on point 1 - when you say "default" - do you mean when you first go to the match select list or after you view a match?

1. 9.0.13 has fixed the match filter team order - now working brilliantly.

2. When I first go into match list, I see the full list correctly sorted (in my case in order of "ID", with the top most match being the "highest" ID, ie the match most recently imported/added. No problems there.

However, as soon as I filter (by team or grade), the screen now shows the bottom matches - the matches with the "lowest" ID, ie. the match that were first imported/added.I then have to scroll up/press home in order to view the matches at the top of the list

Hi Paul - I have had a look and I think I understand what you are asking.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you wanting the previous selected sort order to be remembered by the program after you select an item from the filter drop-down boxes?

I'll try and explain step by step - it may be better to post images - I'll see

1. I go into the "Select Match" screen. Which ever way I sort (ie any order of any column), I see the top most part of the list. Perfect, and how it is supposed to be.

2. For clarity's sake, I normally sort by ID in descending order, so the newest card is at the top of the screen.

3. If I then use any filter (assuming there are more matches than will fit on the screen), the default is at the bottom of the list - ie the scroll bar has gone to the bottom of the list)

Even if I now remove the filter, the scroll bar will stay at the bottom of the list. In practice this means that I have to press home/page up/scroll up, every time I use the filter.

4. If I come out of the "Select Match" screen, and then go back in, the scroll bar is back to its correct "top" position - until I use the filter again

I'll post more images or a video maybe of that is needed

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the detail. I get it.

Part of it is by design and part of it is inconsistent so we need to fix.

Now, the big question is - is it normal to expect the page to auto-scroll to the currently selected match or do we want it to simply go to the top of the page when you hit the filter or sort the column? There are arguments for both.

Probably a bit of both!

If a match is selected, and then you filter (to include the match), I guess that match should still be selected.

However, if it's not now included in the filter, then it should be top of the page.

I'm not sure how often you would select a match, then filter, and then still require that match to be selected though. Normally you would be looking for a match, and hence wouldn't have it selected? Which would mean it should always scroll to the top of the page?

Build 9.0.15 has some changes here that I hope will be a good compromise.
