Adding promises to appAPI.request

appAPI.request could return an object that implements a promise interface, just like jQuery does since 1.5 as stated here http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/#jqXHR.
It helps the development of extensions that use an api, which ends up with lots of callbacks.

  • Hello Filipe,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I have forwarded the suggestion to the product team for their consideration in future releases. However, it's not something that is likely to be implemented in the near future.

However, we also encourage our developer community to create solutions/plugins for the benefit of others. So please feel free to do so ;-) As a taster, one of our veteran developers has created a small project to start you off, though he has only tested it on Chrome and is providing it as-is with a use at your own risk warning: https://github.com/erez12/promisizeAPI

If you do complete the project for all supported browser, please share for the benefit of other users.
