Addons in IE not working - Anti virus programs seem not to be the problem in this case

Hi,

currently having issues to get add ons running with IE 10 and Windows 7.

It seems not related to anti virus software in this case. The installation succeeds error-free. Also the "Thank you" page is shown after the browser is restarted and the addon is listed as "Activated".

However the addon is not working. I cloned the "Hello world" example to assure that it is not related to our code. But also in this case the alert message is not shown (which works in Firefix just fine).

Are you currently facing general problems with IE builds? Or do you have any suggestions how to debug this issue or which IE security settings might be the problems?

    Hello Morten,

    I installed the Hello World demo extension on IE10/Win7 and it works fine (see image). Are you working in a protected envirnment such as an office with a firewall/group policy that may be preventing the extension from running?

    Hi Shlomo,

    thanks for the feedback. At least i know now that it should run :)

    Indeed i am behind a firewall/group policy. Currently i am not allowed to disable the "Enhanced Protected Mode". I think this flag might be the reason that the add-on is not working.

    I'll try to get it disabled and let you know if that already is the solution. In the meantime all additional feedback and suggestions are welcome. Are there any security settings documented that have to be set or are there requirements in regard to the firewall?

      Our framework is designed for the average desktop end-user and not specifically for corporate environments. Hence, there are no specific documents for firewall settings as such and we recommend using a tool such as WireShark to identify the settings required. Note that these settings are changed periodically and hence you may need to modify the firewall settings periodically.
