Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-Ons directory
Can apps be published to the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-Ons directory? I couldn't find any mention anywhere.
-
Yes.
You can already publish your Chrome version to the Chrome Web Store with minor modification (removing the update url as updates are coming from the web store itself), but we will offer this solution soon - i.e., you will be able to download your crx file and publish it as is to the web store with no modifications.
Re Mozilla directory: we are working with Mozilla to allow Crossrider apps at the directory. I have to mention Mozilla are cool and very cooperative, including allow special verification for Crossrider extensions.
This is not done yet (aka "work in progress" :) as there are some code changes needed, but I hope we will introduce this soon enough -

By reading the Developer Agreement I found this sentence (under 1.3 General Restrictions):
"[..] you agree not to, directly or indirectly [..] (d) modify the Code and/or the Extensions except through your Crossrider account"
So if modification (even as slight as removing the update URL) is forbidden under your terms, isn't publication to the stores forbidden as well, since it needs modifications of some sort made to the extension?
I'm pointing this out just to ensure what I can do and what I can't do if I decide to use CrossRider as my development platform of choice. -

Gabriele,
As we are in the process of finalising these export capabilities and they are not officially launched, you can, in this exception do the changes that can allow you to export manually to Chrome Store & AMO.
Let me know if you have any more question in regards to Crossrider to help you decide if to use Crossrider as you development platform.

Hello Crossrider team,
any news about export feature? -
-
We are having some delays with this due to technical challenges we need to address.
The current ETA for this is in two weeks from now for Chrome Webstore and for AMO we will update later as it's less expected due to Mozilla's team response time. -
-
Hey team,
any news on this?
As the crome now starts to blog extensions that are not in the store... -
-
Christopher,
See my reply on the other thread you have opened.
Regarding AMO, this is still a work in progress as we are ping-pongin with them on the best and most seamless way to make the integration. -

Is there an idea way to take our downloaded project files and convert them to Firefox .xpi files that will work? Thanks!

Hey Tom,
Please visit this ticket for status regarding the AMO Export:

I realize you don't have an official export function for the AMO. I'm asking if anyone knows of a way to take the crossrider download file and repurpose it for the AMO - manually. I'd rather go through that process than rewrite this completely for Firefox in their add-on builder which was the entire reason for me to use Crossrider which claims to be cross-browser compatible. So, any suggestions on how to repackage this so I can still maintain one code but convert to a package that can be uploaded to the AMO?
Thanks!

Tom,
As Mozilla required changes needs massive changes to the extension internals, I believe a simple "re-packaging" will not do the trick, unfortunately.
In any case, I will let anyone to reply here, if they had manage to succeed with such process or have any other insights. -

Hello therubble,
Currently, the Firefox Export Feature is on hold until further notice.
We will keep the entire community when this feature will be available once again.
Thanks for your patience. -

Hi Shlomo,
is there any way to manually submit a Crossrider add-on into the Mozilla ADD-ONS -Directory?
When I download the xpi that crossrider gives me and submit them in the Mozilla Developer hub then it fails validation. I attached the validation result screenshot.
is there any way to fix this?
thanks -

Hello Ginader,
From experiences reported by other users who have tried this, it would appear that currently there isn't a way to resolve the issues with manually uploading and extension to the Add-On store. -
-
Can someone please post an update regarding the ability to publish to the chrome and ff app stores? Is this possible now?

I just exported an extension made with crossrider to chrome web store and they are threatening to remove it because of the "hidden codes" =/
-

Hello Huy,
We are not aware of any issues with uploading extension to the Chrome Web Store. Usually hidden codes refers to obfuscated code in your extension code. Please provide your CRX file and I will check it for you. -
