Hello George,
Thanks for the additional information. Do you have a firewall or AV product that may be interfering with the installation? -
-
Nope. only the windows built-in firewall. I disabled it, but the problem persisted

Hello George,
Have you tried downloading a fresh installer? Maybe the version you have is corrupt? Can you try on another machine?
Also, which version of Windows 7 are you using? Home/Professional/...
Basically, it appears to be something peculiar to your environment as it clearly works as can be seen from my previous response. Hence, if you can identify what different about your environment, it will help us to try and reproduce the scenario. -

I have windows 7 home-basic.
I also exposed the exe to little traffic I have - I let them download it directly from my site. I see downloads but no installs.
Do you have restrictions on who can install the exe?
Can you send the md5sum of the exe?
I really don't see how I can proceed here. -
-
Hello George,
There aren't any restrictions on who can install the extension using the EXE file and I'm don't know the md5sum for it. What's the URL from your site? I'm happy to test you site's installer. -

Hi Sujoy, I installed the extension without issue. Have you managed to discover the conditions for reproducing the problem?

@Shlomo, no, I am at a complete loss. The two environments were both Win 7 VMs downloaded from modern.ie, with no additional software installed. The configurations are exactly the same as far as I can see.

FWIW, here is the system and IE information for the affected system:
Windows version: http://screencast.com/t/a6bArUPNu
IE version: http://screencast.com/t/n0D8dPG6H-
Is there anything in the log file (for more info, see Troubleshooting IE)? Any software that may be blocking the installation?
