ReferenceError: Can't find variable: safari

Edit Subject

On safari I am noticing an issue, where the crossrider library is reporting errors on the console and the extension stops working on that page.

I have tried my extension on cnet.com and see the errors in the attached image.

This is a SHOWSTOPPER for us. Please address this ASAP.

Hi Abhishek,

Is this a problem only on that page? Is there something in your code that could be causing the issue? What's the extension id?

I havent tested on many pages yet. However can consistently reproduce it on this one. My code is not even being able to execute. I will keep testing on my end to report any additional issue.

I have all my code within appReady so any of my code shouldnt be causing this on safari.

Shlomo,

This is occuring on several sites and doesnt seem to be related to my code.

Attached is a new one I noticed today

The behavior on Safari is very intermittent. I have had a completely different experience compared to Chrome or Firefox.

Please bear in mind that Mac is the fastest growing segment in the PC market. On top of that with handoff and continuity features, more people are going to opt for Safari going forward.

I tested the extension on Safari 8 and I do not see the error messages.

Please can you try uninstalling the extension, clearing your browser cache, downloading a fresh version of the extension from our website and test again.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling after completely clearing the cache. Looks like its become worse. Typically the extension would load up after visiting few sites (which was also an issue). However now I don't see it loading at all.

Here are the pages I tried it on (where it should work)

http://www.toysrus.com/buy/table-chai... (no error messages in console but extension is not loading)

http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/...
(Tried few refreshes and it finally loaded up but only works partially. Still shows the following error and the sidebar plugin does not load)

  Yes I will try and do that to help with this.
  You can easily check the extension on these pages and see it fail. Very easy to reproduce.
  
  Seems like there is some low level issue within the crossrider libraries. Should be impacting most of the extensions out there.

Any update on Safari 8 issues?
This is a Showstopper for us. I presume this is a problem for all crossrider extensions.

Can you please prioritize this and help get a resolution?

  I tested the walmart URL and can reproduce the error messages on the site. It appears to be an issue with only certain sites, probably due to JavaScript they run on the site.
  
  However, even with the error messages the extension code runs. I tested using a simple alert, as follows:
  appAPI.ready(function($) { alert('Hello World!'); });
  What exactly is not working in your extension? You can debug privately my emailing me at the provided address.
