Please allow me to pay for full content over the web

Now that you are bringing The Young Turks to CurrentTV, can you adopt their member structure? I don't get or want cable (don't even have a TV) and the clip playing mechanism on the website is annoying and I want to watch entire episodes and don't mind paying for a web subscription. The internet is the future of TV anyway. I have paid $10/month to TYT since they started offering member's only content in 2006 or so, and would pay as much to get the full video podcasts for Countdown, Vanguard, and any other CurrentTV content.

  • We can't emphasize enough that we hear your calls for full episodes online. Please understand we are a small, independent network without the level of resources of many larger networks. And, unlike MSNBC and other major cable networks, our agreements with distributors do not allow us to make full episodes of shows available through digital platforms like iTunes and Hulu – whether on a free or subscription basis. As much as we would like to offer Countdown to everyone who wants to see it we unfortunately are not able to do so at this time. We hope, as we build our audience, that we will one day be able to expand the ways we offer all of Current's programming. In the meantime, please check out the highlights and Web exclusive videos we offer on http://current.com/countdown

  • Hi Regina,

Thanks for your quick response! If I may offer services, I am 1/2 of a web-design team in Chicago, and we've some experience with streaming video, and online video players. If there are restrictions with publishing or reselling content to Hulu or iTunes, what about local streaming / access to the content with member access to the restricted area? There are ways to set up the videos for streaming via Flash which would prevent videos from being downloaded and would still allow for pre, mid, and post-roll ads, etc.

I have been enjoying the highlight clips for Countdown, but even your current playlist / autoplay system doesn't seem to track between videos in a clean way. I usually will click on a video, watch it, and then it will jump to another video that's further down in the feed. I'll then go and click on the next video in the feed that I thought would come up next, and after it's finished it will jump to the same video that was further down in the feed.

I imagine this is a basic configuration edit that needs to be made. We are big fans of your network and would be happy to provide some assistance if you think it helpful.

Thanks again for your time and attention.

  • I’m confused
I believe you are deliberately repressing your access. Why is this Al? Are you afraid of some thing? Such as those whom are in control to a certain degree. Stand up and fight, Please. There's absolutely no reason what so ever currant TV should not be more accessible.
