Unfortunately the Android project has been put on hold for two significant reasons.

First we have been hoping sales would generate enough cash flow to fund continued development, but since it has been released in August, we've made less than $5,000 on a little less than 300 units, and at this time, we have no other way to pay our developers.

Secondly, in surveying many instructors, we have found that 95% of those who use an Android as their phone, do not use it for their music source in teaching class. Most use iPods or other devices, but that device is seldom used to deliver the music content. Consequently, we would be sinking more money into an application that would require instructors to change the way they deliver music content as well as delivering their classes. This raises the bar of "Adoption Complexity" and thus, has cooled us even more towards the need to develop an Android version.

  • This is really too bad! There are many of us that ride Keiser M3 bikes that would really like to have this app, even if for a modest price. I hope you release something soon.

  • I am an Indoor Cycle Instructor on the Keiser M3s. We use "old school" cd's because our system is old. I don't have an IPod touch, but I have a Nano. Sure wish our system would be brought up to date!

Are you a Spinning instructor? I can tell you for sure, if John Baudhuin (head honcho at Spinning inter-galactic headquarters) would change his position of not letting anyone other than Digifit create solutions for his instructors, we would have enough volume to pay for the additional development. However, after 90 minutes of conversation, he was still not willing to work with us. Hence, barring a doubling or tripling of business, we won't even break even on the iPhone version until 2020. It's not hard to understand - it's just simple math. I wish as much as you do that we could do an Android version.

Well I'm a new instructor, and I wanted to use my andriod tablet, but I had to give in and get an Ipod touch for my students and my sake, so I can use class builder.

We will do all we can to make this purchase worth while - there is simply no way we could double our development costs without more widespread adoption - our customer base is just too small right now. Thanks for the support Raul!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and am a studio owner and cycling instructor. I really wish this was available for Android. I use WinAmp on my phone currently for my playlists (bluetooth to my stereo system). Just my 2 cents!

I have heard about other firms who have taken up donations for the development of the same app in a different Operating system. I'm not opposed to doing that if there are enough people to seed a fund with donations. Maybe there is a website that can even hold the money.

As it stands, we are many years or thousands of dollars (6 figures) from breaking even on the iOS version. It will be fantastic if we are able to keep upgrading the product - there are many resources that go into this app and Ride Buddy that will be soon integrated to it.

Class Builder App - Hands on Learning.

I am a spin instructor at the Western Area YMCA. I recently purchased the Class Builder App (I am an Android user and actually broke down and bought an Ipod Touch just for my classes). I have been experimenting by myself but was interested in taking a class at Cycle Fusion in which the Class Builder App is being used. I think seeing it live and in action from the class participant perspective would greatly benefit my ability to use the app. Are there any classes I can sign up for at your Oakmont location?

Hi MsFit, I merged your topic here to this page where this discussion was held and answered last year. The android platform is not in our immediate future. If we Private label a version for Spinning (we've had more promissing discussions lately but they have not yet made the comittment) or if we get a lot more volume to help us at least break even on the iPhone/iPod/iPad version, we will defnitely look into doing a non-Apple version. We just need to be able to pay for the development.

  • No worries, there are other ways to get this done... It is very possible to create a similar app that is android friendly! It's not that complicated, and absolutely not "impossible" . I have several developers working on it now and it will be available in the near future.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Getting Very Close To A Long Term Solution For Class Builder.

We are on the literal edge of our seats - waiting for a successful start to finish beta test to confirm to our Class Builder community that we have a complete strategy for continuing well into the future with Class Builder. We have worked on our WEB VERSION (called iClass Builder) for more than 2 years now, and hope to have a beta version ready this winter that will basically allow both iOS and Android users to both use the app.

The iOS version is currently being re-written to become a “player” so that you can build the classes on iClass Builder and then play it on any mobile device in class.

The current version does indeed work in iOS 10 much better than it did in iOS 9, but we are clearly not satisfied with it as it stands and you will see our web version will be taking this to the next level.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of 5 years of loyal customers as we retool for the future. Please just hang on a little while longer.

We are just now beginning to recruit a developer to reproduce the version we just completed on the iOS to work with our new platform. It was essential that we get the iOS version working first so the Android version could be as close a match as possible. We still have to also make sure we can afford to pay the Android developer since we will not make any money on this till we can get about a thousand subscribers to the new platform.

  • I would like to better understand the new software products that we expect to see asap.

1-iClass Builder is a WebApp (browser based) that has the basic requirement to be on-line. It works on any device (iOS, Android, Microsoft). The music can be stored locally or remotely. It offers an advanced software environment to prepare lessons since it includes a lot of editing capabilities. Can I export the lessons prepared with iClass Builder into my local PC? Can I Import my current lessons into iClass Builder environment? Is the iClass Builder cost a recurring monthly/yearly license or a perpetual/Una Tantum one?

2-Class builder player will replace the current Class Builder iOS App and it only runs on iOS Devices. Is it correct? Can I prepare my lessons on the player with the same current methodology?

3-Will be any procedure to combine the “iClass Builder” and the “Class Builder Player”. For example I prepare my lessons with iClass Builder then I export them to data files that the class builder player is able to interpret?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi - We now have iOS 11 and Iphone X - Why cant you provide an update to allow the app to work in iOS 11? Last year I spent money on this App and not only the money but hours and hours of work creating spin profiles I can now no longer access??? What is happening exactly? I think an executive decision is required here to either develop and update the app to work with modern technology or just shelve the project as its wasting a lot of peoples time, effort and money!

Just so there is no mis-understanding, the old Class Builder is NOT being updated.

Due to the changes instituted by Apple and Spotify restricting how their music is accessed, we had to forever abandon the old Class Builder, so I just wanted to be clear that the old version is never going to be “updated”. We have instead built a brand new platform that will give us more control and a longer future of serving our instructors.

This was a very difficult decision and it caused us almost 3 years of redevelopment and a lot of $$ to do so, but we also knew it was an important app to many and still is the only complete teaching tool for Indoor Cycling instructors. So, our new platform is built with an intention to give us flexibility and room to grow into the future. I hope you will join our beta team and begin using the app even now before it is publicly released.

Whatever your specific issues are we can try to address via tech support - email first, and if we can not do it via email, we set phone appointments.

  • The beta programme sounds like a good solution to this and I’m pleased you mentioned this on your thread to save other instructors frustrations. I don’t use Spotify or Apple. I use MP3 files synced and stored on phone. I can’t always depend on an internet connection in the spin studio. Is it possible you can add me to the beta programme. My email is BBgrouptraining@gmx.co.uk I have sent an email today explaining my frustration. Thank you.
