green Algae in pool while opening pool

I'm opening my pool for the summer and have a green algae infestation. I had my water tested and I properly balanced.

I've followed Dazzle Algae Destruction method, but after step 4, water is still green. So I've repeted again step three (Dazzle UltraShock) and No effect, water is green all Shock were done at the rate of 125g/10 000 L

Should I continue to Shock a third time or get a Higher shock rate?

Thanks

Hi Mathieu, thanks for contacting us.

Algae can sometimes be stubborn and hard to get rid of at times. Often it can take multiple shock treatments AND heavier doses. Here is what I'd recommend:
    1. Add a double dose of either Ultra Shock or Energy.
    2. 1 hour later, add another dose of Algae Clear 60 (100ml/10,000L)
    3. If the pool is still green the next day, do another double dose of Ultra Shock or Energy.

Repeat the shock process each day until the green is gone.

In the Spring, often algae accompanies an increased chlorine demand issue where the chlorine from the shock is consumed before it can get to killing the algae. The longer it has been green, the tougher the scenario can be.

Go through the process I just outlined and let me know how the water looks in 2-3 days.

    Thanks again for contacting us!

  • Great it worked... Now water is a clear mikly blue. I Almost see the bottom of the pool.

    Thanks

Mathieu, did you use a clarifier yet? If not, using a clarifier like Clear Rebound will help to speed up the clearing of the milky water. Other options available are Clarifying Tablets (for sand filters only), Nature Floc, Naturesheen and Filter Enhance.

Speak with your Dazzle retailer to determine which clarifier is best for you.
