Is there a way to manually add an item and have it automatically added to the active shelf? This works when using the barcode (adds directly to the shelf) but when adding an item manually (e.g. book by ISBN), I have to remember to drag it. Sometimes I don't remember and then have to go back and find the books in my library. If this isn't available what's the best way to "suggest" this?
Thanks!

Andrew- It isn't possible right now, but it has been a popular suggestion. Thank you for your feedback, every vote counts!

So if we can't find something by typing in the title or keywords or ISBN, there's nothing else we can do?

Azurite- Andrew's inquiry was about adding items directly onto shelves, instead of loading into the library and then manually dragging it into a bookshelf. You can add an item by scanning in its barcode with an iSight camera, by searching title/keywords/isbn/asin, or by dragging an amazon URL into the program.

The reason why I asked is because I have tried all of those methods-- the barcode wouldn't scan, the ISBN didn't register, the keywords didn't match the right product. I figured manually adding was the only option, but I guess I can't?

Azurite- what is the title of the book and ISBN you are trying to enter in? I will try and test it on my DL2 application.

It wasn't a book, it was a DVD. Here's the info on it: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.h...
However, I don't have the ISBN handy, and I think the Activity Window got cleared, so I wouldn't be able to get it from DL2, would I? The DVD is in another location so I can't look up the ISBN. -

It's possible that this isn't an item that's sold on Amazon.com, which is why it wouldn't return any search results.

Here it is on Amazon Japan: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%EF%BC%88%E5%...
And here on the regular Amazon.com site: http://www.amazon.com/Nana-Best-Anna-...
But regardless, shouldn't we be able to add items manually even if they're NOT sold on Amazon.com or its affiliates? -

Azurite- Are you able to drag the URL into DL2 (click on the little icon directly to the left of the URL and drag that into the DL2 window)? We've been having problems with performing searches that contain japanese characters, so that could be why you can't find this particular item. And of course, you are able to add any item manually regardless of it being sold on Amazon or not.

I was able to drag the Amazon Japan URL into DL2 the second time I tried (the first time, DL2 crashed). However, even though the listing on Amazon Japan is for a CD+DVD (in a DVD case), it came up as a CD in DL2. I changed it in DL2, but is there a way to list "combination" packages like that (in general, regardless of whether they have Japanese characters in them or not)?
Also, I've figured out how to add items manually; thanks for letting me know it was possible without being on Amazon, after all! -
-
I'm sorry for all the confusion, but I'm glad everything works out now!
There isn't really an easy way to list combo packages... The program wants it to fit into one of the categories. Alternatively, you could always add the item in twice and have one on the CD shelf and one on the DVD shelf. -

Is there a way to manually add an item and have it automatically added to the active shelf?
This feature was implemented in 2.1 or 2.2, but only for scanned items. *boggle*
Manually added items ignore the active shelf.
This effectively makes it impossible for me to scan boxes of books that lack barcodes -- and sort them into shelves where each shelf is a box.
Please let me know when this is fixed and I'll purchase a license. -

mtamsky- If you send in email to support[at]delicious-monster[dot]com, you can get a case number for the feature request, and we'll e-mail you if we get around to implementing this feature.
