I’m frustrated

Delicious Library 3: Unable to import iTunes library stored on external drive

My iTunes library is stored on an external hard drive, not in the default iTunes location.

I'm unable import my iTunes library into Delicious Library 3. I click on "EDIT" in the sidebar, click on the iTunes switch and nothing happens. The switch looks like it's greyed out.

Is it possible to edit DL3's preferences so it can locate my iTunes library?

I have searched these forums for answers to this question.

However, the only replies have been about being unable to import cover art from iTunes. Answers about being unable to import an iTunes library stored on an external drive don't seem to have been answered.

I was able to do this in DL2, but not in DL3.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've found a solution to this problem on Macs.

    1. Quit Delicious Library 3 and iTunes, if running.
    2. Start iTunes by alt-clicking on the Dock's icon.
    3. Select "Create library..." option to create a new iTunes library within its default location of your ~\User\Music folder.
    4. Start Delicious Library, open the Library sidebar, click Edit, and then click on the iTunes slider.
    5. DL will now automatically add the empty library you just created to its library.
    6. Quit DL and iTunes.
    7. Open your Music folder in ~\User\Library and delete the iTunes library you just created.
    8. Restart iTunes by alt-clicking its icon and change the library to the one on your external hard drive.
    9. Start Delicious Library 3. If this process works as it did with me, DL will add the contents of your iTunes library on your external hard drive. It may take a few minutes depending on your hard drive's data transfer speeds and the size of your library.

  • Maybe I'm an idiot. I am a new user to DL3. Works like a CHAMP importing my DVDs & BluRays via the camera scanner. I cannot for the life of me follow how to enable iTunes import. Mac OSX 10.9.2. There is no "iTunes Slider" anywhere. When I hit the edit button, it just wants to edit the characteristics of the shelf. Frankly, the overall documentation is pretty sparse.

  • When you click Edit you do get the option to edit the features of the shelf currently displayed but you can click on other things in the left panel. Edit should also make the iTunes feature appear with an on/off switch (slider) next to it just under the Wishlist. Sliding this to On cues DL3 to link to iTunes. Then follow the other instructions.

Personally I leave the link off to save processing memory since just about everything we own in the way of music is already in the Music section of DL3 as a CD.
