Hello,
After publishing my DL3 library in my Dropbox on my Mac, how can I view my library in my iPhone, via my iPhone Dropbox that sees DL3 content?
Thank you.

  • Short answer: you can't. At least not natively.

There are a number of ways to access that data, but they all involve exporting your library in some form. The most basic method is printing the data to PDF, which is pretty limited, but suits some users. I personally export to CSV, and import the data in the database program Tap Forms 5. This is hardly convenient, and is very labor intensive to set up initially, but once you have it setup, you can export new purchases incrementally. I keep separate records for books, music, and movies, and select the fields for each on export. I include the image link, and drag the image into Tap Forms. I've attached a couple of sample screens.

  • Hello Kerry,
Indeed, it's an idea, but as much no longer use DL3 then ?!
If Tap Forms does everything already. A little expensive, too; and no demo version.
It's odd on the part of DL, because when I do "Publish" (so export) the DL function, all for me, poses nicely in my Dropbox of my iMac.
When I click on "index.html" folder, present in my DropBox I get an interface for iPhone, on the Mac, not on the iPhone. (SEE COPY SCREEN.)
I'm so good with DL, that changing would be complicated; however, I will study the question, if DL does not do better in the future.
    Thanks for your help.

    Bonjour Kerry,

  • I found that published interface to be very clunky, and not very useful. I need to able to create filters and flexible searches on mobile, and don't have much use for superfluous foliage in the interface. Tap Forms alone would be a pain, as I still use the scanning capability of DL3, and its autofilling of fields, via Amazon API, so all my items originate there.

  • Hello,
I bought TapForm for iPhone, but even if it is in French, it is quite complicated, compared to DL.
Still, the iPhone interface proposed by DL is good; I do not co-explain why it does not work.

For the TapForm Mac version, I will wait for the BlackFriday to come shortly because it is expensive.

I asked Delicous Monster, because DL's iPhone export does not work.
    I'm waiting for an answer.

    Thank you.
    To be continued.

    Bonjour,

    Merci.
    À suivre.

  • Yes, unfortunately it is labor intensive, and expensive keeping essentially two parallel databases. I have both the desktop and mobile versions of Tap Forms 5, and do virtually all my data entry on the Mac side, and then sync with the mobile app. When you export from DL, include the image link, and then as you import items, you can click on the image URL in the Tap Forms field, and then drag the image from a browser window into Tap Forms. The up front work setting up the fields in Tap Forms is tedious and certainly more complicated than just scanning items into DL, but once you do the initial work of setting things up and importing your DL library, adding new items a handful at a time is not so painful. If you just want a searchable list of items in your DL library, you might try exporting a PDF, and putting that on your phone. It's a bare bones method, but you can at least see what you have from your phone.

  • Hello,
Do you work at Delicious Monster, or are you in the Forum like me?

I'm not moving fast because I'm trying to understand iPhone TapForms.

In DL3, I do not see in Export, the mode in CSV. There are plenty, but not this one.
    Where is it hidden?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,
I just downloaded a 10-day demo version of TapForms v5 for my iMac via MacUpdate.
Ouaaaaa, we are far from the simplicity of DL3!
This TapForms reminds me of the excellent HyperCard (Apple) or FileMaker... but here there is a semblance of interface; not DL, actually.

The TF5 online help is in English, but I will go through GooogleTranslator to try to understand. I saw that there was help video too, via vimeo.
A hell of a program for me.
I hope DL4 will do better with an iPhone version in sync.

  • I'm just a DL3 user. To export as CSV, you can pick either "Delimited Text" or Numbers. Delimited Text will have a .txt extension, but will import the same as .csv.The "Numbers" format is CSV, and will open in Numbers on export. I hadn't thought what a pain it must be to decipher a program if instructions are only in English! You might need a big bottle of Advil!

  • Hello Kerin,
    OK, I try without translator.
    I will test your solution.

  • Hello Kerry,
    So, here is my return.

From DL3, I exported in CSV, and also in TXT.
I have, on my iMac, create 2 TapForm files, starting from Zero.
    I say no. I'm not a salesman at TapForm®!
I see that everything must be put on page; it's too much ; I'm giving up.
    (SEE MY COPIES SCREEN.)
A bit like when you went from Palm® to iPhone® years ago.

I had a few years ago, tested Numento (http://www.numento.com), but is currently posing.
    An intuitive interface, like DL.

In addition, the iPhone version of TapForms I bought, although in French, is not clearly and simply understanding.
I tried a lot of seizures by hand, without understanding the logic.
It's like a principle of iWeb (Apple), but not intuitive.

I will wait for the synchronizable iPhone version of DL3® or DL4®.
If not, if the Publish mode is still running, I'll try to drag it into a site FTP. I will see.

Thank you for your help and your patience, which I hope will make others want to embark on the adventure.

See you soon on the forum.

    Bonjour Kerry,
    Alors, voici mon retour.
