How to assign physical location to scanned items?
What is the easiest way to scan books and assign them a physical location on a particular shelf? I use the wireless bluetooth scanner (which I love) but need to figure out how to better organize my library. Can I print barcodes for each of my shelves and label them? Ideally, I would like to be able to scan the shelf, then scan each item on the shelf and move on. Is that possible? Please advise.

I don't believe DL supports user created bar codes. As for identifying shelf locations, you will have to work your idea backwards to what you describe.
First, scan all the items on the shelf. Second, make sure that all the items scanned have been correctly identified and posted into your library (a necessary step for anyone using a remote scanner or bulk entry of ISBN since you are not in front of the screen as you scan to see if you get an error/item not found message or the scan yields an incorrect item). Third, edit the "details" for the items to put in the "location" identifying your shelf.
The quickest way to edit for this is to view your library as a list, click the tool icon (top right) and add "creation date" to the columns shown. Click on that column to sort by descending creation date and all the latest entries will be at the top of the list. Click on the top item (last one entered), display "details" for that item and hit the edit button (pencil), then hold the shift key and click on the first item entered for that shelf/location. This will highlight all the items. Now type in what ever you want in the "location" field and it will change all those items.
Just remember, if you move something you will have to update the "location" by hand. -
