Manual search at Amazon doesn't work anymore with DL3.
Starting from yesterday the manual search at Amazon doesn't work anymore for me with DL3. Adding items with barcode still works fine. Working on a MBP13 with OS X 10.9. Any suggestions to solve that problem?

I am running DL3.1.6 on MacBookPro13 with OS 10.8.5 and use the Canadian Amazon site. I have no trouble with the manual Search. Which Amazon store are you using? The problem may be with something happening at your Amazon rather than with DL3.

By default I am using the German Amazon store, for some articles I used the JP, US or UK Store too. None of them is working anymore - that happened quite spontaneous while cataloging some music CDs. At one moment it worked and just a few moments later it stopped. I'm really clueless.

Hello, Andre. Are you still unable to perform manual searches? I just replied to someone who emailed the support alias yesterday around the same time with the same problem, but these are the only two reports of search being disabled that I've fielded. I was able to successfully perform a search of an author not in my test library just now (see attached.)
I'm hoping it was just a temporary server glitch. If it's an ongoing issue, let me know -- you can either follow up here or open a ticket by emailing support@delicious-monster.com.
Sorry for the interruption in your work! That's the kind of inexplicable issue that drives me bananas. -

Hi Kim, just tried it again. For comparison I used exactly the same manual search like you did. No results at all. The search doesn't even seem to start. Adding items with barcode still works fine.

I was going to ask you if you were sure you were connected to the internet. Then I realized: Duh, Kim, how do you think he's posting in the thread?
I'll pose the classic IT question: Have you tried quitting and restarting?
Are you running OS X 10.9 or 10.9.2? Many DL3 users reported various instability issues after the initial release of Mavericks which have been resolved in 10.9.2. Most of these were crashes related to a specific set of graphics drivers, but I'm wondering if you're hitting another issue triggered by the OS. -

I am running OS X 10.9.2. I tried quitting and restarting both DL3 and the Mac too.
The manual search did stop working shortly (or even directly, I'm not sure) after I switched the Amazon Store to JP for inserting one Japanese item.
But I'm not sure if the issue is related to that in any way. Anyway, is there any way to reset DL3 to the initial settings after first installation? -

Andre, I took this to my boss because I'm just as mystified as you are. One possible culprit is that your machine's clock is slightly off. The data call DL makes to Amazon relies on the timestamps matching precisely. Even a few seconds' discrepancy will cause the call to fail. So try synching your clock with the world clock first.
He asks that you open the Console app, run a search for anything related to "delicious," and copy/paste the results in an email to support@delicious-monster.com. We'll know more when we look at what's going on under the hood.
The mention of timestamps reminded me of another oddball issue we had in an earlier release with lookup fails. It was limited to customers who were outside the USA and had their Time display preferences set not to be 24-hour. We believe this related to a bug in Mavericks, and thought we'd corrected it in the latest version, but maybe the workaround is failing in this instance.
With those earlier customers, ticking the Preferences checkbox so they were on a 24-hour clock fixed the problem. You might not want to do that, though, and you shouldn't have to do that. So get us the console data, please, and we'll figure out what's going on.
(You can also post it here if you prefer to keep the conversation public for any reason -- opening a case in our ticketing system just makes it easier for me to keep things on boss-man's radar.) -

Update: I've now had reports from two German users that Amazon.de is no longer returning results on scanned Blu-Rays. Andre, is this lookup issue confined to Blu-Ray discs, by any chance? My hypothesis right now is that Amazon's German site has changed the way they catalogue Blu-Ray discs, maybe with the creation of a new browse node. If lookups are failing with other item types in your case, that's of interest.
(Just trying to figure out whether this is one problem or two.) -

Kim, this is no item-specific issue. Manual search is not working independent from the item type (Book, CD, DVD, Bluray) while the same item is found by barcode scan (that is if that item has a barcode). I will try to make a video capture for illustration.

Thanks for following up on this, Andre. I'll reply to your case via email. I was just thinking this issue might be related to the other cases because of the Deutschland connection, but that bug turned out to be confined to DL2 on further investigation. Congratulations, you're unique!

Hi Kim, any news on this topic? I sent an email with a video capture as attachment 3 weeks ago. Hope the attachment was not blocked by your email client!?

So the problem is solved, although the root cause still unknown. Deinstallation + reinstallation of DL3 App helped. Everything is working fine now.

Not working here either. No results to internet for Amazon. Scan works though, just not text search. Help!
ON EDIT
Never mind. I am a complete idiot. I didn't realize that I needed to expand the "triangle" symbol. Ugh...I feel real silly. Hello there! -

Hey, Andre --
I'm really glad that the deinstall/reinstall worked. I'm so sorry that a dev didn't contact you on this issue. Both our devs are buried in work right now -- Mila is prepping v3.2 for a beta release, and Wil is working on a new app that should be ready by the end of the year. Seriously, every morning I get up and my inbox is full of code checkins from him working all night.
Find Your Way, did you also email the support alias about this using a first name that starts with R? It would be great if I could mark both those as resolved in my caseload. -
