You might also need to check the firewall settings on your Mac, in System Preferences > Securty > Firewall, click "Firewall Options" and check that Delicious Library 3 is allowed to receive connections. You can also try disabling firewall temporarily to see if that's the issue.

Yes, my iphone and ipad are all on the same wifi as my macbook and I have Delicious 3 installed on my macbook.

i installed bonjour on my phone, it showed _delicousscannerclient._tcp. I manually added com.delicious-monster. Then i restarted the app, still getting the same message.

Same problem here. Single wireless network, app running on Mountain Lion and iOS 6.13, and it says "OS X Library Not Detected" on the phone. When I try to pair, I get alternately "You scanned a Delicious Library pairing code. Scanner is already paired with this library." and "You scanned a Delicious Library pairing code. WOuld you like to pair with this library? You will be unpaired from the current library." (I'm guessing this happens because each time I click the button to pair in the OS X app, it generates a new code.
In any case, I've rebooted the Mac, I've rebooted the phone.
I tried the Bonjour discovery tool, and got the same behavior os Lisa Ann -- it shows _deliciousscanneclient._tcp, but that's it.
I did manage to connect for about 20 seconds, but then it dropped.
Clearly, even if this works in the lab, it ain't working in the field. - Ken- view 2 more comments

I only have the firewall that came with Mac OS X. Turning it off didn't help me.

I tried setting up a different router and it worked through that. So there is something messed up on my other router. I then had a lot of fun for the next 2.5 hours scanning CDs and DVDs, video games, etc., and playing with the charts.
I have video games that I wish to have in DM that don't have barcodes which I entered manually. I can't find a way to enter what I paid for the game (I searched for the original MSRP) and current value (per recently sold versions of them on eBay or other sites). How do you do that?
It's not that I have a lot of vehicles, I only have three, but it would be fun if I could put my car, our Jeep, and my Honda GoldWing in DM and have it check with NADA or some other place to see what they might be worth based on fields like, "Condition" and "Mileage" and "Accessories" like air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, really sucky GPS systems that come with cars but you can get the upper models without them, and so forth. That would be good for insurance too ... right? -

I'm having the same issue. I've verified that they are on the same subnet and I tried turning off my Firewall on my Mac Mini with 10.8.3. I get the same with both my iPhone 4s and my 3rd Gen iPad.
I've checked to make sure in the Firewall that Delicious 3 is allowed to receive connections. I've rebooted my Mac Mini and I powered down both my iPhone and iPad and powered them back up and tried both of them again. Still getting "OS X Library Not Detected". -

PS: I've used Delicious Monsters since v1. Always lots of fun using your app as well as being good in case it is ever needed for insurance reasons. So far I haven't needed it for that and hope I never do.
Keep up the great and stylish work. -

How about an option for syncing the iPhone and iPad through bluetooth instead of wifi?

I'm having the same problem as Bill.
A suggestion: let the iOS app scan anywhere (not on a LAN), toss scanned barcodes on iCloud, Mac app sees new entries and adds them to DL3. I know storing the whole database on iCloud opens up a can of worms, but used simply as a communication method for new entries might not be horrible.- view 1 more comment

Sorry Bill, that was a suggestion for the developers of the app. It is not there now. It would be great if there was some method (iCloud or otherwise) where barcodes scanned when not on a LAN would communicate back to DL3. iCloud is just one way to potentially do it.

Ok. I like it.

Same problem here. Bill mentioned above that he solved the problem changing routers. Maybe there's a port that has to be manually opened and redirected to the laptop? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Disabling bluetooth as suggested in this thread worked for me:

you're gonna have to go slow with me. i scanned all my dvds and THEN bought delicious library 3. my os x isn't detected. i'm worried about buying the program because i imagined it would just be really simple to use. i disabled my firewall and it's still not working.
i'm using an imac, and scanning with the delicious library scanner. -

Is there an actual fix for this or is the best we're going to get is the excuse that it's Apple's fault?
For me this issue popped up within a week of using Delicious Library. I have a hard time believing that it wasn't an issue during development. In which case you have a solution and aren't sharing or knew it was an issue and released a faulty product. -

I have tried the bluetooth disconnect listed above and my firewall allows full connection to Delicious Library 3, buy I still get the same OS X Library not detected error as listed above. They both are on the same subnet. I have let the phone and library sit for quite a while (30+ minutes) without them connecting.
When I re-pair my iphone with library, it duplicates all the items from the last scanning session. Does anyone have any other ideas on this? -

Is your phone on the same WiFi network as your Mac? Is Delicious Library 3 currently running on your Mac? If the answer to both these is “yes,” there may be a problem with Apple’s Bonjour...we don’t have a great way to debug it, but because Bonjour tries to cache what it knows about the world, sometimes it takes a while to change its mind. (For instance, sometimes Bonjour will decide Delicious Library 3 is running on another device, and even when that device is gone Bonjour will continue to believe it.) If you continue having problems, you might be able to debug them with this tool on iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/disco... It’s kind of an advanced tool, but basically you want to look for whether you see a service registered that has “com.delicious-monster” in it.

hey guys i downloaded the Scanner app for the iphone and i cant seem to get it to link up wirelessly to my library on my mac. It will scan the barcode but then at the top it says "OS X Library not detected"
I am not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Delicious Scanner App for iPhone. -

I had the problem and didn't read the instructions on my iPhone carefully enough. You need to start Delicious Library 3, click on the + at the lower right. Then click on the iPhone image and get the barcode to show on the screen. Now launch the iPhone Scanner and take a picture of he barcode on the screen. That should cause the two to identify each other.

Nope. I'm using an iPad and had followed the steps as per Tom's post. I'm still getting the error message OS X library not detected
-

Just to add. I had firewall turned off and also tried the bluetooth disconnect method described above (on both iPad as well as MacBook air). MacBook is on OS X 10.8.3 and the Delicious Software is a Paid License (v3.0.2)

Did this do anything for you? "...If you continue having problems, you might be able to debug them with this tool on iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/disco... It’s kind of an advanced tool, but basically you want to look for whether you see a service registered that has “com.delicious-monster” in it."

For the record: the solution offered by the "official rep" worked like a charm. Thank you.

I have the same problem, running mountain lion, no firewall.

Both items on the same WiFi connection that allows two devices to see each other? (This is sometimes not the case on public wifi networks.)

I also have the same problem, running Mountain Lion and no firewall. So far no suggestions have helped.

since the official response is to offer a non-solution and then ignore those with problems why would anyone upgrade from the demo to the paid version when it doesn't work and you won't receive any technical assistance to get it to. my iphone 5s won't pair and it isn't because of firewall issue. thanks for the lack of help delicious

Did the issue ever get resolved? I am having the same problem. I installed the bonjour discovery tool and observed the following:
my firewall is turned off on my macbook.
Delicious Library mac app shows my iPhone connected, with green light
Delicious iphone app shows os x library not detected
deliciousscannerhost._tcp. does have an ip address to my macbook
dmsscannerhost._tcp. shows the exact same settings as deliciousscannerhost._tcp.
deliciousscannerclient._tcp. shows scanning but never returns an ip address, then disappears from the bonjour discovery app list.
Help please. -

I had the same Issue. I solved it by switching off my Kaspersky virus scanner.
-
-
Was this resolved somewhere or is it still in limbo? Or did people just give up and move on?
-
The original issue was resolved by Apple, subsequent issues with Yosemite showing the same symptoms have been resolved in some cases (for example my issue with duplicate computer names causing the scanner app to not sync)
There are further edge cases where users are having issues related to WiFi, general networking, again these are being dealt with by Apple.
If you are having issues, raise a ticket as it will be something different by now. -

I have this exact issue. I bought Delicious Library 3 over the weekend and downloaded the iOS Scanner.
I have no firewall on my Mac. I tried turning off Bluetooth. No VPN enabled. Tried different settings on my AirPort. Tried another Mac I have. Tried another wireless network. Made sure the iPhone and MacBook were on the same network.
Nothing worked.
Both Macs are exactly the same (MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch Early 2013 with the same specs) are using OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. iPhone is an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.2.
This was the main reason I got Delicious Library. Please help. I would appreciate. Without this working the software is useless to me.-
