Screen Redraw Garbled in OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
Garbled window redraw atop OS X Mountain Lion. Locally, this can be reproduced by opening Delicious Library then clicking once on the shelf background of an open library. End result is a rectangular gray overlay atop the shelves with greenish rectangles atop each item on the shelves. Screen redraws properly once another action is taken or another application gains focus in OS X.

Don
Could you advise the exact version of DL you are using and also some idea of the mac you are running in terms of graphics card type -
-
DL 2.7.8
Early 2011 15" MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz i7, 8GB RAM, SSD, 1GB Radeon HD 6750M)
DL is the only application that has experienced such glitching post-install of Mountain Lion, but the glitching is persistent and triggers frequently during usage. -
-
i've not seen that after upgrading to ML, I did see some covers that took a few seconds to redraw, but after, that nothing more.

Don, I've forwarded this thread to the developers to see if we can pin down whats causing this.

Apparantly the ATI/AMD Radeon drivers have been completely rewritten for ML. There was a lot of discussion around April time this year on the linux drivers list about the changes and what card revisions it woudl impact.
What I'm trying to say is that this might not be something that DL can fix, but might require an update from Apple. -
-
I suspected that altered drivers specific to the graphics chipset may play a part. Affected graphics routines (if the result of called library functions) must be narrow, as I have not seen any graphic glitching beyond that within Delicious Library since migrating to Mountain Lion.

Hi Don, does this happen if you make the window really small, and really large?
-
-
No, altering window dimensions does not appear to trigger the issue.
-
-
I am actually getting this now, more and more.
AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB -

whilst taking a screen shot using Apple + Shift +4, I've noted that as soon as you start to select something in an area that appears badly drawn, the banded box content is shown correctly.
Not sure if this is points in any way towards OSX windowing layer, but its quite a oddity. -
-
I'm also getting this issue on my 27-inch Late-2011 iMac with ML. Latest update has reduced it down a bit but some covers are still showing the beautifully toned semaphore above.
-
-
What do you mean "latest update has reduced it down"? update to what? there are no ML updates yet and the latest version of DL is 2.7.8 and was updated in May 2012.
-
-
Latest update to DL - I haven't updated mine since last year as we were building our house. The 'Last Modified' date on the update was 27th July so I assumed it was recent. Thanks for the info though - more than I can get from the DL site!

Another issue, probably similar in nature.
Having scanned a few items in, multiple selecting then filling in the Owner field for all the items, the text box for the edit doesn't show the input content (or any possible already present values in the whole library) unless:
- One of the fields already has a value
- You are editing the field for the second time
The image below has my forename typed in the field

Does this problem also occur, if you install the database after the mountain lion update?
I was thinking of buying that app for my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro.-
Sharat, as far as we can tell this issue applies to ATI graphics cards. The Retina MacBook Pro uses an Nvidia card, and I haven't seen the glitching myself on the same model (which makes it harder to debug, unfortunately).

It doesn't look like were going to get a fix for this any time soon, seems Delicious Monster Software don't care.
-
Manic, unfortunately this is a graphics driver issue at the system software level, and we aren't aware of anything we can do on our end to fix it at the moment. We have reported it to Apple and will share any updates.

-
OK, fair enough, sorry i didn't mean to sound arsey, im sure your doing all you can.

Would those experiencing this issue please be able to provide a system report to help debug the problem please? Hold Option and click the Apple menu, and choose System Information. Then File > Save, and email it to support@delicious-monster.com (compressing it would be preferred). Thanks!

Thanks folks!

Done. I'm having the same issues as all of these folks. Hopefully either you or apple can work it out soon, I can barely struggle through using it!

This seems to be resolved in Mountain Lion 10.8.3 just released today!! I have been testing for about 10 minutes and cannot see the screen garbling any more!!
This is great news. -
-
This is what I'm currently seeing on a 24in mid 2007 iMac with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics card with 256 MB under 10.8.3 (12D78). I was not seeing this issue up to the 25 scan limit on the demo version, but started to see it immediately after upgrading to a license. (I have also shut down the app and restarted.) Please, this is absolutely unacceptable. This cannot be the only piece of software that is using the apple graphics layer and having this problem from the graphics layer.

I am getting this also on a 2010 iMac with mountain lion update yesterday.
It seems also that delicious monster moves extremely slow. -
-
Hi, do you have an update on this issue? I have 10.8.3 and continue to have the same problem. Thanks!

I only tested for a few minutes, but it seems to be resolved for me on 10.8.5.
