I’m sad

Such a shame!

I am sorry to say that I think I am going to switch from Delicious Library (version2) to DVDpedia.
Delicious Library is, I mean "was" a wonderful piece of software. But things are changing rapidly and Delicious Library is standing still. No compatibility with iPhone and iPad is a major fault. Delicious Library "3" is not the upgrade I was waiting for.
Thanks for the wonderful years I have had with your product, but I want to go further.

  • Aw, Rob, we're really sorry to see you go.

Our Monsters did spend half a year developing an iOS app. However, we found out after it was released that we were in violation of our API agreement with Amazon. You can read their terms here:

    https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/...

Section 4(e) reads, in part: "You will not, without our express prior written approval, use any Product Advertising Content on or in connection with any site or application designed or intended for use with a mobile phone or other handheld device."

Amazon's massive catalog is where Delicious Library draws all its product data from, and we are required to abide by the terms of this agreement if we want the app to keep working for any and all of our customers. We'd love to move into the mobile sphere, but our hands are tied.

I understand your frustration. It's certainly not true that the app is "standing still," though. I'm testing a beta right now that will include features we've added based on customer feedback. We're still actively supporting and improving Delicious Library.

DL is really good at doing what it was designed to do. But you can have the best car in the world and if what you really need is an airplane, your awesome car's inability to fly is going to disappoint you every time.

There are options to take your library with you that we talked about in the blog a while back:

    http://blog.delicious-monster.com/201...

... and I just had a conversation with a customer today who uses the following quick-and-dirty method to view his library on the fly:

    – Choose File > Print and click the PDF option. Save the PDF.

    – Email the PDF to the address your iPhone/iPad syncs to.

But this isn't the same as having a dynamic library you can add to and edit when you're away from your primary machine. I get that, and I wish I had better answers for customers who are unhappy about this. I hope that in the future, I will. In the meantime, I'm genuinely sad that DL's a poor fit for your needs and hope you find an app that suits you perfectly.

  • Selecting "Add PDF to iTunes" is easier. You can view it in iBooks on your iPod, iPhone or iPad. Read more in my comments here.
