Officially we only support the Microvision Flic and ROV bluetooth scanners, but Delicious Library 2 is also compatible with some USB scanners. As people write in with USB scanners that they've found are compatible, I'll post them in this discussion. Hopefully with your support we can keep this as a succinct list of "yes this one works", or "no, this one doesn't work".
Please note, this is not the place to troubleshoot scanner problems, there are other threads addressing those issues. Thanks!!
The following USB scanners ARE compatible with DL2:
--Adesso Nuscan 1000u USB scanner
--Modified CueCat
--Microvision ROV without Bluetooth
--Unitech USB MS210-1BG

I don't work for Library Thing and don't even use them (thanks to Delicious Library) but they *do* sell CueCat for just $15 each.

To use them on Delicious Library you have to "declaw" them (for now). A site that discusses how to do this is here:

Basically all you need to do is cut one lead from an IC, and it starts working normally instead of encrypting the output... -

I picked up a CipherLab 1105 barcode scanner. You can buy different com cables for it, including USB. I've not had any problems with it.
Scanner on ebay was $35 USD. USB cable was another $20 or so. -

I just got a used Symbol LS1908T-1000 (Symbol 1900 series) USB scanner that I got on ebay for cheap, about $35.00 plus shipping.
I have it set up to read UPC codes and it works perfectly with version Delicious 2.0.x. If you buy on eBay be sure you're getting one that sends decoded data. -

i have used both the symbol ls2200 and the symbol ls4000 series usb scanner and they both work well.

I just purchased the Adesso Nuscan 1000u USB scanner, but can't find out how to make it talk to Delicious Library. Is there a trick?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. -

I can't afford the Bluetooth scanner. Are there any other scanners that will work with DL2? USB is fine, but I just don't know what will work. I have a USB Manhattan scanner I bought for use with ComicBase, but when I hook it up all my MacBook does is beep and the keyboard goes dead.

Is it possible to use a USB scanner instead of a Bluetooth scanner? Has anyone tried it?

I just purchased a :Cue:Cat from eBay, and it works unmodified. Perhaps this is a later series (or maybe an early series) that did not have the encryption? This one is listed as Cat. No. 68-1966. I received the unit in a sealed bag with a simple instruction sheet. On the Mac I had to pretend that it was a standard US keyboard to convince OS X to accept it.

I have a Unitech MS180 USB Scanner. Will this work? How do I set it up?

I'm not sure exactly how each one works, but have you tried just plugging it in, then launching Delicious Library 2 and seeing what happens when you try to scan? If it doesn't work like that, try opening the add panel (+) and then scan something and let me know what it does.
