According to the release notes:
Aliases and symbolic links are followed for the main Delicious Library 3 database.
Is this referring to this entire folder?:
/Users//Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/
I tried moving that to my DropBox and aliasing it back, but DL complained about needing to repair it on launch and then promptly crashed hard.

The correct folder to alias is this one: ~/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 3/
It seems that messing with the folders directly in Containers causes applications to crash on launch (Apple's fault, I think they might say it's intentional).

For those interested in "syncing" via DropBox, another tip is using the app Scenario. It lets you set up scripts that trigger upon events.
I use it to run a script when my screensaver starts on any of my three computers (two desktops and a laptop). That script quits Yojimbo and now DL 3 as well. By the time I get to the other location the data is synced via DropBox, and I don't need to worry about having left the other app running. -

Could somebody please answer the original question?
"How do I store my Delicious Library 3 database in Dropbox?" -

I agree - could SOMEBODY please post a step-by-step answer to the original question??

Jonathan answered it in his response. It's not a setting. It's something you have to manually move/copy to your DropBox and then alias (or symLink) back to it's original location.
First quite DL 3.
This is the folder you need to copy to DropBox (~ refers to your home User directory):
~/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 3/
Copy or move that "Delicious Library 3" folder to wherever you want in your DropBox folder.
Once it's there, make an alias of the new "Delicious Library 3" folder (Cmd-L) in your DropBox, and put it back in the location at the path above (removing the "alias" from the end of the alias' name, so it matched the original.
On your other computer, also make an alias of the new DropBox "Delicious Library 3" folder to the location on that computer per the path above on that computer.
That's it.
However, you need to make sure you don't run it on multiple computers simultaneously (at least if you're making edits). You also need to leave enough time between quitting on one computer and launching on another for it to sync if you made changes.
The "Scenario" app I mentioned helps me with this by quoting DL3 for me on my computers when I put them to sleep or when the screensaver starts, so I don't have to worry about quitting it. -

Hi mpmchugh,
Sorry, but workaround doesn't work. We're still without (a) any sort of official support for sharing databases and (b) any reasonably easy workaround.
Best wishes,
Steffen-
It does work. I use it all the time, using the same library from Dropbox across 3 computers. Once it's setup it works fine. Sure a supported solution would be nice, but in the meantime, you can get Dropbox to work.
Check out DarkCloud14's more detailed instructions below.

Hi hope the following step by step howto helps:
1. Make sure DL3 is closed.
2. Open Finder and navigate to ~/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support
3. Copy "Delicious Library 3" folder to your desired location in Dropbox
4. Rename the folder "Delicious Library 3" in folder of step 2
5. Open another Finder window and navigate to the location/folder you copied the library in step 3
6. Create an Alias of "Delicious Library 3" folder in that location
7. Move the Alias to the folder of step 2
8. Make sure that the Alias name is "Delicious Library 3" (without quotes) in the above location
9. Start Delicious Library 3, it should now ask for access rights of the Aliased folder, grant those rights.
10. If your Library works in DropBox location you can delete the renamed folder of step 4. If it doesn't work you can remove the alias and rename that folder back again so it's name is "Delicious Library 3" (without quotes)
Symlinks will not work!! You must use OSX Aliases!
Ok that is basically the same mpmchugh wrote so what exactly is your problem Steffen?- view 1 more comment

Here is a cut from a reply Kim gave to someone looking for their library data.
**Your DL3 data is stored in your Home folder here:
~/Library/Containers/com.delicious-monster.library3/Data/Library/Application Support/Delicious Library 3/
"Library" is hidden by default, but you can open this folder by selecting your Home directory, hitting command-shift-G in the Finder, and pasting in the above path. **
Hope this helps you find what you need. -

Why can't there be the same functionality as DL2? Publishing to Dropbox was so easy in DL2. I need a programming degree to use DL3. I wish I'd never bought DL2, so I wouldn't be so angry right now that I can't use it (despite paying for it). I shouldn't have had to pay again to use DL3. It's a terrible product. DL3 is a poor substitute for DL2.

Hi Kate,
I'm sorry you're having issues with publishing. As I'm not exactly sure what issue you're having I hope you might find our blog post helpful- http://blog.delicious-monster.com/2013/05/how-to-take-your-library-with-you-using.html
If not can you provide some more information about the problems you're having?-
Allison - I attempted to do the Google Drive solution only to find that it doesn't render on my iPhone. There are a few things that I couldn't get to work:
1. When I right clicked on the Deliciouslibrary folder the share option gave me the following:
Airdrop, Messages and Email
2. I also could not share the Google Drive folder or the index file. Right clicking did not give me the selection options that you have outlined on your blog. I have a Mac running Maverick and an iPhone 5.
The local index file displays the library properly on my Mac but when I send it to my iPhone it says it can't open it. HTML perhaps?
What I'm trying to do is have a way of viewing my library on my iPhone so that when I'm buying movies I don't buy the same one twice and also share it with friends.
It would be REALLY nice if you guys added iPhone support. The scanning app is awesome so why not just add syncing and viewing functionality to it?
Super frustrated that I upgraded to DL3, I was seriously considering My Movies Pro (it has a companion iPhone app and real time syncing capabilities and decided to go with DL3 at the last minute!

Unfortunately, the solution described in great detail by DarkCloud14 still doesn't work - but perhaps that's because I'm on the latest builds of Mavericks already?

This use to work great for me on os x, but now seems that yosemite has changed somewhere and no longer works. Is there a way to sync my database between comps using dropbox and the new OS X yosemite?

@mpmchugh I know this is an old thread, but could you store it in iCloud Drive the same as Dropbox?
-
-
@stef I've never tried iCloud drive for this, as when I set this up iCloud Drive wasn't nearly a stable option, but I suspect it could.
In either event, as DL never instituted a "lock file" set up, you need to make sure you always quit the app on one machine before opening it on the other. That's why I run Scenario with an Apple script that quits it on idle for me.-
Thanks, @mpmchugh for getting back to me so quickly. I appreciate the information! Thanks again!
