This is actually the same problem I was having with DL2. I just don't understand why an app that is basically just a database creator/reader takes 5 mins to open on a recent mac laptop with latest OS, and a library of 1500 items
ITunes is basically a database creator/reader too, and my itunes library contains 6000 entries - opens in 20 seconds.
It really pisses me off that this problem still persists after the update, and after the app has been completely rewritten and all the rest of it.

My 5000 item+ library on DL3, opens in 10 seconds, on a mac mini (5.1) with 4GB RAM which considering that it took upwards of a minute on DL2, is a massive improvement.
What processor and RAM have you got?
Have you run any disk checking (permissions etc) on your mac in recent history? if not do so. -

I've got 2300 items it doesn't take that long (and it's quick on a new iMac with fusion drive). Did you add custom photos to items that happen to be large?

Hi Jack,
Could you describe the computer you're using, particularly RAM and hard drive? Even 20 seconds for iTunes to launch sounds rather slow... Stu's suggestion of a disk check is prudent too. -
