I’m perplexed

Can transparent screens block touches?

I have a passage of text, 44 words, and have created transparent "senders" for each of word, so that the individual words will highlight and be spoken as the senders are touched. However, I do not want them to respond to touch until the narration ends, so I put a transparent screen over the "senders". I then created a Behavior where the "audio ends" sends a message to the screen Hidden ON, thus making the "senders" touchable. But the screen doesn't block them, even with Hidden OFF.

I tried putting a larger (1024 x 768) transparent blocking screen over the whole page and set it Hidden OFF to see if it would block everything. It seems to interfere, but some touches get through, particularly near the edges.

Should this be working?
