Positioning an animation but there are outline grey around...

When i insert an animation on BACKGROUND, i have bad effect of OUTLINE IS GREY IN AUTHORING AND IN PREVIEW.

I thought it wrong to Enter the coordinates x and y, and the size of animationbut they are all OK.

THEN I HAVE THOUGHT THAT THE IMAGE COMPRESSION is WRONG,
AND I HAVE SAVED ALL IN PNG BUT I HAVE NOT SOLVED.

I saw that ISPECTOR> POSITION> "X" is 560 px WITH LOCK
when i BACK > POSITION "X "is 559, why? So I wrote X 561 then 560 but not solved.

What is the problem of the outline grey?

Please help me...

  • Antonio,

That x being 1 off what you select is just something that Composer does. Dan explained it once, but it doesn't really seem to cause problems.

I have only done a few simple animations, and I'm not sure I'm following your problem. the only thing that occurs to me is to ask, Are all the images of your animation the same dimensions?

For the ones I have done, I have created them in layers in photoshop the size I want them to be in the app. Then showing one layer at a time with the background transparent, I made a png of each. This makes sure each movement will be in the right place. Then in Composer, add Animation, open Inspector, go to Image Sequence and select the image for each frame.

If this doesn't help, I'm sure some one else will have a better answer.

  • Hi Anna,
    X d'ont problem.
My problem is that there is a thread gray around the images , the images are all the same size, png, but not transparent, maybe that is the problem?
Should I make the animation always with transparent PNG?

My first guess is that the image package you use( Photoshop is most notorious for this ) it has been "helpful" and AA'ed the image for you, if you open the image and check the edges and make sure it has not made a single line or two of partially alpha on one or more edges.

If that is not the case then adjust the width +/- 1 and see if that makes it go away.

The reason the numbers change by 1 when you go from view to view is due to the way numbers work and are displayed, the numbers are internally the same just sometimes change the way they display which is very annoying but not really anything I can do about it I'm afraid.

  • Hi Dan,
yes i use Photoshop, but i was very careful when I saved the frames.
I tried as you suggested (adjust width -1, +1) and I could see only 1 of 4 threads gray around the image.
But I finally solved resaved frames PNG with transparency.

  • I’m relieved
I had the thin grey line around my graphics as well. Sometimes moving the graphic a few pixels got rid of all the lines, sometimes it did not. That wasn't a usable fix since some of my graphics have to be in certain places to line up with other graphics. Saving as a PNG with transparency only worked for me if the image didn't have square edges.

I did a bunch of tests (using Photoshop CS 5.5), and the way I found to avoid the grey outline came down to using "Save As" a PNG instead of "Save for Web & Devices".

    Thanks,
    Heidi
