Snapping to the grid

Can the app/book/objects (globally or whatever level) be set so that objects snap to the grid rather than simply freely placing on object and then having to fiddle with the X/Y position?

  • David, we don't support snap to grid yet, sorry. You can go to Book Detail and scroll down to the Settings to change the grid distance (in pixels).Select the page in Workbench and zoom in to get the positioning of an object just right and Lock it via Inspector. Some details on this in Chapter 4 of the User Guide.

  • Hi David, you can make the grid spacing as fine or wide as you want. I requested this feature during the beta and it was designed to give you a better way to "eyeball" your placement of objects. Once you have a grid spacing that works for you it is a lot easier to use. If you look in my sample book Steampunk Chess Puzzles, you'll see the grid spacing is set to 40 pixels. This gives a fairly fine grid for visually aligning objects. I doubt snapping will be added; however, if you position an object on one page and then copy it, then go to another page and paste it, it will appear at the same x/y coordinates of the original object.
