.My New Teeth Feel Like Somebody Else's Teeth

I am on day 6 after having all of my 27 teeth pulled and temporary dentures placed.  I did great for 3 days and then woke up on the 4th day and the swelling had gone down so much that my teeth won't stay in and they sit on the sore spots so bad that I can't keep them in.  I go back to get the stitches out tomorrow.  Is it too soon for them to reline them?  Is there any product out there that cushions the dentures that isn't a sealer?  I don't want to get the glue in the holes where the teeth were.  I gotta' go back to work soon and need my teeth.  Any advice?

Did you have your teeth pulled at the same place that made your dentures? I didn't for medical reasons, that's why I ask.

If you did, definitely tell them what you just said on here. If not, you should call the denture place ASAP. I was told to go back to the denture place the day after I had teeth pulled and to come on as often as needed.

It's been 5 weeks for me and I've already had 3 soft relines done. In fact I just got home from an adjustment.

From what I was told, you can cause damage from wearing ill fitting dentures for too long, so i wouldn't be afraid to call daily if needed. (Maybe every other day lol)

Thank You.  I had it done at the dentist's office but they used a lab to construct the temporaries and it will be 6 to 8 months till I get the permanent dentures.  There is a denturist who is gonna' reline and adjust them as I need, but I was wondering if it is too soon to reline them since it's only been a week and I know that the gums and bones will continute to shrink as they heal.  But if you are on week 5 and already had 3 relines then maybe it's not too soon.  I would still like to know if anybody knows of a product that would just cushion them while the holes are open and sore.

If you find one, please let me know as well! I hate cleaning the adhesive out of the "holes".

My dental place did a soft reline within a week and, in my experience, the reline will act as a little bit of a cushion. I was also told that you can get as many soft relines as needed.

Well, I'm back from my Dentist and he said that I am healing well and he tweeked on my teeth and they fit much better now.  He also said to use a bit of fixodent if needed.  So right now I am happy.  He says we are still about a week out on the soft reline.  He wants me to heal more, but he says that will make a huge difference.

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. That is one thing that I wish the dental place would have told me-well 1 of many things actually-that this is a very LONG and trying road!

Oh, and would you mind me asking you a simple question? I keep seeing the term denturist. However, until this forum I had never heard the word. What exactly does a denturist do?

Thank you#

My Dentist  has people in his office that are trained to adjust the plates for a more comfortable fit. I think that title is Denturist.  I learned today that he has a lab in his office where they do it.  It sounded like he was grinding them and he would come back and put them in my mouth and go do something else and come back.  He has several Ladies that are able to do it but if it is too indepth  for them then he does it.

A Denturist only makes teeth. In the future if you need a new st, go to a Denturist and the cost would be less. They don't work on the mouth other than fitting your new teeth.

Went back to the Dentist today and they did a soft reline.  They fit awesome now.  I wore them for most of the afternoon without any adhesive at all.  Yay!  Maybe I'll try eating with them on soon.
