I had all my top teeth removed with immediate denture put right in. I am on day 6 with sore and ill fitting dentures. Going tomorrow to dentist to get help. What should I expect?
When I went, they shaved (for lack of a better word) them down so they fit a little better. Remember, anytime that they are hurting or rubbing to create a soar spot, call your dentist and they should work on them. I had a soft realign 3 weeks after and it made a huge difference.
Hi! They will probably do some adjustments to relieve your sore spots and will check your healing. You should prepare any questions you might have to ask as well. This site is super helpful with answering questions but your dentist also has the knowledge of your denture and how it should fit and what steps will be taken in the future to make sure they fit as well. I am a month and a half out after upper extractions and full upper immediate denture placement and I have had some adjustments made but am waiting on my first soft reline. I cannot wait but I’ve had to out it off for a few weeks due to illness. Hoping that when it’s done I can stop using adhesive for a little while. Right now adhesives work to keep it in my mouth but chewing can be difficult because my denture is so damn loose. Gum shrinkage really happens during the first couple of months and your denture will become very loose. Adhesives are not a substitute for ill fitting dentures and I am learning that right now. Good luck with your appt. and keep us posted on your progress.
Thank you so much for all the info. My dentist was so wonderful. He really shaved and grinded and although painful the dental tech keep on and on putting in and checking my bite and adjusting then they did a soft healing reline. They feel so much better and am able to keep them in so much better. Eating anything you chew is quite challenging. I am working on my speech now too. I look forward to reading all the info, it has helped so much all ready. Has anyone had to have the roof adjusted, my tongue just doesn't want to work around it. Also does everyone give your gums a rest at night and leave the teeth in a cup. It feels so gross but amazing without them in for awhile... lol! Thanks again so much.
