i had extractions on Monday. i have to admit the pain is pretty much gone. i really havent needed any meds today.
The problem i am having is keeping these temporary dentures in place. i have no problem biting except they wont stay in place. does anybody have any suggestions regarding an adhesive?
I have stitches in so I have to keep this in mind.
any help would be appreciated

Fixodent Would probably work long enough for you to eat just don’t put a lot on soak your mouth first and rinse Put a couple dabs of that on your denture and soak that in some warm water for a few seconds then put them in your mouth that should get you comfort to eat some people have use poly grip either one is pretty good

Hey Mike glad to hear ur doing good!!!! Yay!!! Try any cream type adhesive just on the pallette part where no stitches or wounds r. U don't wanna get glue on them and year or pull them. After stitches I suggest poligrip powder or secure. Secure is the best by far in my opinion but I also use the poligrip powder. It works really good too. But ur prob going to have to try different types and brands to find which works best for u. So glad ur doing so good!!!!

Do you think you’re Dentist can give you samples of stuff they have in the office that way you wouldn’t have to spend unnecessary money I always walk away with a lot a good sample of the stuff including the cleanser for the dentures

Online. eBay Amazon and vitacost r places I've bought. I don't think it's in store anywhere but I could b wrong. If u call the actual secure company and request a sample they will send u a whole full sized tube.

I just ordered some from Vitacost on line. Walmarts don't sell it in stores. I researched Amazon, etc. Vital cost was the lowest price. $15. for 2 and that includes shipping.

Melanie, I wrote to Secure last night from their site and got a weird email back stating more or less I was in the wrong place. LoL I'll have to go back in . Did you, or anyone in here, actually receive a free sample themselves?

Pamela when I tried to email I got the same thing. Weird email back. So I called. And just told the person who answered I was interested in their secure denture adhesive could I get a sample and they sent me a full size tube and a little zip lock bag with a couple of their cleansing tablets and a couple of their bottom denture adhesive strips. I got it about a week later. I posted the phone number I called in an above post.

I bought secure at Sprouts. I found this site that tells you by state what stores sells them. I just got a full upper a week ago and really like secure. My dentist office is looking into it to offer samples to others if they like it. I just bought poligrip powder to try. I do not get a suction on top as they removed the plate due to my gag reflex so I have to use adhesive but have to avoid the extraction sites.  http://www.securedenture.com/where-to-buy.aspx

There are a lot of "Tricks" to get past the gaging. Removal of the plate and you can never go adhesive free. Surprised your dentist was so willing to trash your Denture.

Since you still have stitches. The clinic who made your temporary dentures need to put in a soft liner. Thats what they did with me, all of it was included in the price of the dentures, so I did not have to pay! The soft liner acts as a cushion and nicely fills in where you specific gums need it! So make an appt for possible soft liner to be put in your temp dentures! I think that will solve your issues!

They should do a soft reline at 7 to 10 days. After stitches removed. Or when they do it it will pull stitches cause bleeding and possibly tearing making healing longer

I think he should ask the clinic that! They are the ones responsible for a comfortable fit! Just in case there are any other issues going on, they still need to see whats going on!

They will usually not let you leave until your dentures fit comfortably. While there ask them which denture cream would be best for right now! They usually have some on hand! Hope that helps!

I recieved a new patient kit at my clinic  with denture cream, case, polident cleaner and a denture toothbrush. I do not know if all clinics do that, but I certainly would ask!

Donna, my kit came with 2 different cleaning tablets, case and info. They had the brushes on back order so I just bought a soft baby toothbrush. No adhesive and now 4 weeks later I'm curious to try some to see if it gives me a better fit. So I ordered some secure from Vitacost.

The best way I've found to use the secure is put a little in middle of dry denture then smear it around evenly on the whole thing so it's even then place in mouth and gently bite down for few minutes. In my opinion it really is the best for an all day hold. I use poligrip powder when just at home and secure whenever I'm going out of the house for the day. First time I used I almost panicked cuz was kinda hard to get denture out. Lol. But I learned swished warm water around for few minutes releases it pretty well.

I am on Instaggram and Twitter. My daughter asked me to join. So for her I did. I really don't go on per say unless I get an email telling me I have a message, same with my FB account. But I tend to check FB more often. I like it for the games. I am hooked on FarmVille 2!

Either way when there is a fitting problem, the clinic who made your dentures are the ones responsible for making them feel as comfortable as possible!!

Mike I would be very careful of what you do while those stitches are still in. Best advise I can give you is to call whomever put them in and ask their advise. They can either advise you over the phone or have you go in to see them. Better to be safe than sorry Mike. I myself just kept gargling with salt water until they can out.
Good luck and let us know what happens..... Pamela

Hi Melanie, I just called the Secure number you gave me. They do give out a tube of Secure but, they charged me six dollars for shipping. I didn't mind tho cuz it is a bit pricy to purchase. Hope it works well for me. Thanks for the number!!

Oh wow that's strange. They didn't charge me my mother in law or my daughter's father in law anything. They just shipped it out. Maybe it's a new thing they started cuz so many sample requests. I'm sorry about that. But 6$ still isn't bad for a full size tube.

I would bet they have had too many requests so that's why. I don't mind at all. Well worth it if it works for me. I buy everything LOL on Amazon and I see that they sell it there. If it works, I will order there. Happy Thanksgiving, Melanie. God Bless you and yours!!!

Hi Melanie & Debbie.... Just thought I'd share my research.

Amazon : 1 Secure without being a member of Prime....11.75
Amazon : 2 Secure pac with Prime membership 13.99 .....$7.00 per tube

Vitacost : 2 Secure 2 pac with shipping cost $15.83 ..... 7.91 per pac

If you have Prime Amazon is the way to go. If not Vitacost.

Hope this helps

I went to my Dentist today. It turns out what I was feeling was indeed a small piece of bone. She was glad I came in and 5 minutes later it was gone. She also noticed that my swelling had gone down so my denture was very loose. She did a reline. It feels great!!! So glad I went in. And I told her I'm so glad I found her

It's crazy how dentists r so different and things they do and say vary so much. My dentist put a small fan of fixodent on the center of my denture immediately after extractions and placing sutures and put my denture in and told me til stitches removed and healed to only use that much in that area. It's no wonder every1 gets so confused on what to do and what not to do. Lol. U would think it would be the same all around. But I've said it many times every1 is different and only u and ur dentist knows what's best for u.

I should of stated her full reply. She said it is 'best' to use nothing. But if you are having a hard time a small dab on the center, as you said, could be applied. I guess I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have to use any adhesive or have to have a relining until now.
