9 days following 28 extractions and double tori removal. I am very comfortable in my temporaries now. The bottoms don’t fit as well as they should do to the tori removal but I’ll be going in for a soft liner soon. I switched to powder and LOVE IT! I am stumbling a little with words ending in ‘s’ but aside from that I sound normal again. This picture was 3 days post op!

No way, 3 days post op unless your teeth were crack-head teeth and were barely holding on.

I feel really lucky!! My surgeon was gentle. All of my front teeth were alright but I had eight back teeth that had to be surgically removed because they were mostly down to the gums. I certainly don’t need to come lying on a denture board. Hopefully my experience will help alleviate another person’s anxiety over surgery.

Spicy, comment about “crackhead teeth” is not cool here, in my opinion. No point in it. We all have had problems to get here. Most don't involve crack...

Cynthia your smile looks stunning, you look absolutely ravishing! I am not certain what the crack head correlation attempts to display, so i concur that comment was imbecilic! So you didn't have any swelling or any major discomfort. I support your strength and tenacity that's wonderful! " You hang in there "  In any regard poligrip is the most effective for me thus far and Im new to the denture world since March.

Indeed Charlie whatever got us to this point has been a difficult road, difficult acceptance and a trying time to adapt and transition into this new life. For me having a thyroid issue I was born with caused it for me and other issues for others so the mental trial and psychological acceptance of having false teeth was by far an arduous depressive and mental suffering for a short time. I am saying that to say, the journey, cause, reasoning, purpose by which got us here comes from and is a surmount of some suffering for us all until we later appreciate, grow, transition, accept and understand this is but apart of our journey to the greater us that we are becoming.... Motivation speaks louder than defamation, opprobrium and debasement. If one can't help me up when i am falling, please don't kick me when I am down.

Well said man. Mine was to do with my medication and my wife’s illness. I chose to pay for my ladies treatment, and let my teeth take the backseat. I’d lose my teeth a million times over to keep my wife alive. When I hear “crack or meth” comments I get pissed. No one knows the whole story. Don’t assume you know what others have been through. Makes you look like an @ss.

Right, breast cancer, chemo and medication ruined my teeth, I wore braces as a child I brushed I got some crowns after a car accident, I took care of my teeth, then I got SICK so I dont need anyone talking shit to me about my teeth, life is hard enough, either be here to build each other up or go away, there is always someone to poop on the party lol the rest of us will watch each others backs the heck with nasty people 1SPICY FIND ANOTHER FORUM WITH YOUR NEGATIVITY

Patricia I wore silver caps as a child. I have which I will always have hypothyroidism and hypopitutarism. And this hormonal issue caused me to loose my teeth or rather to not have enough bone to support them along with huge gaps that I had. The initial acceptance per the dentist suggestion of having to have all my teeth removed after seeing two dentist was dissettling and a difficult decision to make... Things indicated as a wife's illness, cancer is not a joking matter. This forum and people like yourselves is the first thing I looked for which I didn't know existed or not after my extractions because I was initially depressed with this whole thing.... So nothing humorous, besmirching, defaming about any of journeys that I care to hear. Day to day is difficult enough in life...

Ahhh, I just adore you guys. So supportive! It’s why I love this forum. My teeth started to crack, chip and break when I had back-to-back pregnancies. But I certainly wouldn’t be condescending to someone who had a history of drug use resulting in tooth loss. We are all human and we are all in the same boat. Kindness and empathy go a long way.

Right. If someone did have a drug problem and have gotten their life in order?? Good for them. Still no reason to put them down. That could be enough to cause a relapse.

I've gotten to the point in rather a short time where I am so thankful and blessed to have dentures. I work with a lady right now, who had to get extractions whose going without any dentures whatsoever. The fact remains that some just don't even have the funds to purchase dentures so we are blessed to have what we have. Positivity is sought after, negativity can get the hell out of this forum!

I had a horrible first 6 months I actually felt like I was gonna lose it and spoke of suicide for the first time in my life, and I have been thru some serious shit, this group saved me, and thank goodness I have the sense not to pay attention to the 1 or 2 bad apples that seem to be here because they think misery loves company. This journey is very hard under normal circumstances, never mind some tradgedy that brought you to this point in life, then to have someone judge or doubt or nay say you is just SAD and un called for and that person should be removed from the group, We need to help each other and give advice or lend an ear and build each other up even if we never meet anyone here in person that doesnt mean we shouldnt respect each other and treat each other the way we want to be treated. If anyone needs to vent look me up if anyone needs help with some denture products to hold you over for a bit hit me up I have plenty to share. On that note, GOODNITE PEEPS SWEET DREAMS REST WELL GOOD LUCK ON YOUR DENTURE JOURNEY TOMORROW, IM GOING TO TRY CHICKEN PARM FROM OLIVE GARDEN WITH SALAD AND BREADSTICKS FOR THE FIRST TIME. FOR MOTHERS DAY, WISH ME LOTS OF LUCK THANKS FOR LISTENING <3

Mind above, I am with you all the way, sorry your wife got sick my love passed so young from cancer he left me broken and sad but life does go on, I hate negative people some people get out of bed that way, even if someone was an addict and that was the reason WHO CARES they are human too we are all in the same boat, smile and do your best, thats all you can do, I feel like negsative people just like to stir the pot then sit back and watch it unfold , so I do my best not to get sucked in and to keep negative away from me and my home. For me surviving for me everyday is a physical and mental struggle so I dont have what it takes to fight off negative I just ignore, ( plus it makes the negative get madder and its funny lol )

Are your bottoms also very loose? I had little to no swelling and it seems mine are just far too wide. I too had stitches in the lower and those are almost all dissolved now (thankfully). I’ve been following your journey too, Charlie!

Thank you, Joseph. This forum was so helpful to me the last six months. I spent countless hours scrolling through, reading everyone’s posts. My anxiety was very high leading up to my surgery and I am so thankful to have found this place. I thought I might post updates on my own experience to perhaps give back to another who might be feeling how I was prior to surgery.

Yes Ma'am anything new you want to try, save your receipt and if you dont like it put it back in the box take it back and tell them it didnt work for you, I asked the sales clerk , being on a fixed income I cant afford to buy things that dont work or arent useful to me, Never before when I worked and had a steady income would I return anything, I would give it away or toss it, I dont have that luxury anymore every penny really matters for my household now

yes they sent me a coupon to get a free bottle of the fixodent its a $6 and some change bottle, but a little hoea a long way I put it in a tupperware and hold my denture over the tupperware so any excess goes back into the tupperware and doesnt get wasted. Im to cheap lol Im on disability and my health inzurance allows me $100 montly in over the counter prpducts so I get all mey denture cleaners and brushes and adhesives except the powder for free , if you need some let me know I can send you some cleansing tablets some adhesive and a denture brush. If you just pay the shipping Im sure it wouldnt be much. I use the free adhesive on my bottoms with the powder its zinc free doesnt havean after taste and its extra strength

Mind above, you can horseshoe your denture yourself, sorry I missed your comment last nite, do you have a dremel tool, the key is to get a towel, a water bottle your toothbrush, your denture, your dremel, start off very slowly in the middle of the denture and take a tiny bit at a time, while rinsing and dusting it off and trying it back in your mouth as you go, a little bit off feels huge, so you may not need as much off as I did. You can use the picture of my denture for a reference. I did have to use the dremel to make the edge of the denture where the u shape is now thinner , again doing a little at a time. If you need more pictures to use for a reference I would be happy to send some to your phone if that makes it easier for you, I would have no issue actually doing it for you, but if by some odd chance it broke I would feel HORRIBLE and I wouldnt be able to replace it so taking on that responsibility is not really something I wanna do sorry but I know you understand what I mean. If you really want me to though I will be extra extra careful and NO CHARGE LOL

Hi Patricia thanks and I understand- However I have an extra top that I purchased off of ebay for a little nothing so its not my main denture, because I knew i wanted to try the horse shoe but I didn't want to get it done to my main temporary tops especially if it made matters worse so if they broke it wouldn't be a problem since I purchased it from ebay HAHA. I don't have or know where to get a dremel but if you will do it please email me where to mail it..... You can literally buy almost anything on ebay HAHA LOL

Girl I went thru hell for 6 months, no denture tons of bone spurs couldnt wear teeth the dentist screwed up, anyway finally got a denture that fit spent a month and a half trying so hard to adjust just couldnt do it, took out my dremel and made a semi horse shoe. The difference is AMAZING, I can wear my denture 10 hrs before maybe 4-5 most no food forget that, now I am eating more and more each day with the powder the upper doesnt move, my bottom I do have to reapply half way thru the day, the amount I removed is more than enough to still get a little suction and its so much better, Im gonna try to post a pic for you, a tiny bit off in your mouth makes a huge difference I took a lot more off on another upper and ruined it expensive lesson learned believe me what I did to my upper is MORE THAN ENOUGH OFF

Do it dont wait for your permanents you will be so happy, go slow take a little at a time grab a towel your tooth brush a water bottle and your dremel or electric nail tool I used both, and file a little bit brush off the dust rinse it try it in see how it feels take off more repeat until you get the result that feels good but take a little ,you can take more off in a day or two after you wear them, I also keep a do it yourself soft liner in my upper because I dont like the feel of the hard plastic, but I only used about half of the mixture because I didnt want it to be to thick

Its really easy for me to eat now. my ocd couldnt stand the back of the denture touching my throat and eating was impossible not feeling my food in my mouth was just to freaky for me, doing this allows me to feel the food and I feel like I can talk better as well, If you decide to do this, take a little at a time and rinse as you go try it in your mouth as you go and see where your comfy spot is but leaving the hump helps give you some suctjon and I think thats the key to getting good hold, the first upper I made to look like the bottom so it wouldnt stay up with any product at all I took WAY to much and just destroyed it .

I’m finally eating!! I’ve lost 17 lbs. I feel like I’m dying lol. As soon as my bottom partial is fixed, and my stitches are out (I had some wisdom teeth and molars that really really wanted to stay in), I can use some adhesive. I can’t use anything on the gum line just yet. So I’m using powder on the upper only. And only on the pallet. Hold decent enough, but will be soooo much better after a reline. My swelling has went down a lot in 10 days.

This is the perfect amount off, I now have 2 sets and a third coming in a few months and Im doing the same to the third set. Im having the second and third set made the same exact tooth color size shape, evergthing so if an uppe or lower breaks I have a spare of either to put together, then I have the other set as my spare and to rotate.

You are too kind! I was so worried. I have graduation this Thursday (two weeks post op). I was stressed that I would have big “horse teeth”, that my face would be swollen up or I would be terribly bruised. My poor grandad had his last 7 teeth extracted the week before my surgery and the whole left side of his face was a giant hematoma! Purple! Talk about being even more anxious. I really made it out lucky.
