I have had my dentures for a year now - full uppers and lowers - and they fit well - but every time I wear them, my gums hurt terribly. Does anyone know of any "gum deadening" treatment that can be done, or a brand of adhesive that has pain reliever in it? Ive tried using Orajel with my adhesive, but that's not an ideal solution. Help!! This lady has a lot of nerve!!
Thanks Jeanne - I have. It just seems to be painful for me to have anything on my gums. I've been told for years, by all my dentists, that I have very large nerves, and close to the surface in my mouth. I thought perhaps all the extractions would have deadened some of the nerves in my mouth - especially after a year - but they are still just as touching and sensitive as ever.
I was told when I got my teeth pulled, then getting the Denture on top that I had a "bundle of nerves right on top where the large front teeth were". Well I was given a prescription of Lidocaine since I had several areas on top that were so sensitive too. I actually take a Q-tip and line the denture with it, or you can put it directly on the gooms, put your adhesive on the denture and it has helped me many times these past 7 months. See if your Dentist who made your denture and fitted you for them will prescribe that for you until those nerves recede for you.
Adhesive or glue I think it as a glue. I dont know feels glue . couple weeks in. . no pain . the eating drinking etc daily things its weird . .. But thanks thats y I came here to read up on different things to use and do. . 20 mins is the most I stold In the mirror the adhesive is getting annoying to take off. I ll try the sea bond . just love the pillow infect rite now . works great for sores . u used to eating and shallowing. Drinking . smiling and etc. Yet. Aye Wanda ... Coconut oil .. ?? Half water or straight up. ? What's the ratio. ? I guess.
Straight up, honey.......it's not unpleasant at all; tastes rather nice and refreshing. Just be sure and spit out after swishing around in your mouth; however, I have heard that adding coconut oil to your food wards off all kinds of diseases - there are hundreds of healthy uses for this stuff.
