Ok...so I am 2 weeks today post extraction of 15 teeth and immediate (full set) dentures places. I got my first soft reline and they are fitting great now and not flopping around anymore. My dentist told me that I can start chewing food and to experiment with softer easier foods like a banana.

So, I go home and I got a banana...put it at the corner of my mouth at the canine like he told me to and I bit into it. As soon as I bit into it using my right side..my left side (in the front) popped out away from my gums...so frustrating...

I know it's going to be a learning experience but I have tried to bite into this stupid banana 3 times and my top denture keeps rocking loose...anymore suggestions???

I am starving after eating potatoes, jello and ice cream for 2 weeks. I want some meat lol I want some bread!!!!

I was told not to use adhesive on a soft reline because it will make it come off. So that is a no go for now

Hi Casey ok I am almost4 months in and the best thing I can tell u is chew with both sides it keeps the rocking to a minimum or at least did for me. Also I have used adhesive every day as soon as the soft reline started loosening. I've had 2 soft re lines in almost 4 months. 1 at10 days after and 1 at 3 months. The adhesive hasn't affected it at all. And my dentist says its perfectly fine to use adhesive. Every dentist is different so if urs told u not to use adhesive then its ur choice. But my self and a lot of others here have used them with soft re lines. I know what u mean about starving. Lol. Man I thought i was gonna die but it gets better every day. I'm back to eating burgers and HARD TACOS now. Lol. U will get there.

Oh man...the day I get Mexican food again...lol

Thank you SO much for the reply! I will definitely try to chew on both sides and see if that works. With my bad teeth (all of my life) I always favored one side over the other. It will be a big adjustment to try both sides but I guess having all my teeth taken out and fake ones put in is already an adjustment...what's one more thing? Lol

Man I know what u mean. I had few back teeth already pulled b4 so always used the other side to chew on. Its a big change to get used to using both sides. Lol. Took me a while. Tacos were the 1 thing I was so scared about not ever being able to eat again. But I CAN and a lot easier than b4 with bad teeth. Lol. U will get there too. It takes little time and adjustments to get used to but its so worth it!!!!

So this soft reline is REALLY starting to hurt the "webbing" on the inside of my lips. It's like it is sharp...did you have this problem? It hurts to even smile today because it is digging into me!!

I didn't have it but I've seen on here other ppl have. I'm pretty sure its an easy fix at ur dentists office. They just file it down sum. Sum ppl have done it themselves but if ur like me I'm too scared I'm gonna mess sum thing up that I've paid a lot of $ for. Lol. Call ur dentist office and tell them u need an adjustment and explain what's happening.

I told them yesterday that it was happening and hey said it is due to the fact that "my mouth isn't used to the dentures" but I wasn't feeling this irritation until the soft reline was put in. It has to be the problem lol it's my luck

Yea sum times u have to keep on with ur dentist and make them fix the problem. But it really shouldn't b digging in anywhere and can b easily fixed they just have to file it down sum. My dentist will make any adjustments I need so they fit good. Sum ppl have to actually demand it from their dentist. Which to me is so messed up. We pay a lot of $ for dentures we shouldn't have to cause a scene to make the dentist fix them right.

My oral surgeon did the grinding for me on the first couple visits, then my dentist did it on the most recent visit.  I'm on 9 weeks with no reline, so luckily I havent had this happen yet.  I'm definitely getting floppy and using more Secure than I have been to keep them in, so I'm betting they'll do one next time I'm in.  I worry about the change in fit once they do...

The use of adhesive at 2 weeks post extractions.... I was finally able to eat more than just soft foods. The dentures stay put! I am 3 weeks in, and I can eat chips, crackers, cheeseburgers.... I don't think anything has been hard to eat

Adhesives make a world of difference, so if you're not using them yet don't be suprised at your lack of ability.  I was starting to lose faith when I finally started using it and it was pretty miraculous.

I started with a bit of adhesive on the palate of my upper until the scabs went away on my extraction sites.

Another tip that I picked up from here - try using your tongue to push the food against the roof of your mouth while you're chewing.  It helped me a lot.
