afraid to take dentures out

I just had 16 teeth pulled and an upper denture put in right away. The dentist told me to remove them after 24hrs an rinse with warm salt water. I haven't removed them yet, it's been 45hrs and I'm so swollen all the way to the bottom of my eyes. My denture doesn't hurt I'm just too scared to remove it afraid it will not go back in. Did anyone else wait until some of the swelling went down in their face before you removed them??

Hope you have removed the teeth and used salt water. The first time it seems to burn, but after a few uses it will feel good. I had 17 teeth pulled and immediate dentures. Was faithful to my dentist instuctions and had no swelling. It is not almost three weeks and I am eating soft food and leaving my upper full plate and bottom particle in all day. Hope you are better, time heals, any problems return to your dentist. God Bless

I had nothing like burning or anything rising with salt water after my extractions. In fact, I found it quite a relief, and is doing a lot of good. But I didn't have any swelling around my face like you are describing. My Prosthodontist removed them the next day at our appointment, and then I did so myself the next morning, and several times a day to keep rinsing etc. You might find they'll go in and out easy enough for you now, but that as the swelling of you gums goes down etc that they'll loosen up enough that you'll need to get the odd adjustment /reline to them.

Thank u both. I did remove them, rinsed, cleaned them and put them straight back in. It did hurt but it wasn't near as bad as what I thought it would be. My face is still swollen pretty bad an it's day 3. I've been using my cold packs but doesn't seem to be helping much at all with swelling but it helps with pain. I'm looking forward to healing up & being able to eat again
