Anyone had luck getting a denture that's way too big fitted better?

Besides having a new one made? I went in Monday morning and had 21 teeth extracted, 7 mini implants and immediate dentures. I know I'm in the early stages but these dentures are making me miserable. I can't close my mouth all the way. I look like a combination of a horse and monkey. I have cried non stop over my "teeth". And I haven't been able to eat anything since Sunday night. I really don't have the money to have a new set made so I'm hoping y'all can offer some advice on these things. I'm going to call when they open because I think I've got a few sore spots.

Hi Katherine, I'm sorry your going through this with no resolve yet. And yes I'd be crying to.
I'd call, tell them you have to be seen and need something corrected right away. You've paid money to have them done and I would expect them to make this right for you some how!

Thanks so much. I just feel even the teeth are too big for my mouth. I'm glad to know it does get better. I can't eat with them or talk with them. They barely come away from each other so I'm constantly talking through clenched teeth. My husband says I look weird cause my lips move but my teeth don't. Him nor my kids can understand anything I say. When I try to stick a spoon through them to eat it will barely fit through. That's my biggest problem, is as of right now I honestly don't see how I will ever function with them. So as of now I don't talk cause I can't and I barely eat because I guess all of this has just got me down. I'm just regretting it right now. I can deal with the poofiness and weird feelings of having it in there but I can't deal with this not being able to talk or eat with them. As of today my mouth won't close at all, not like the picture above.

You just had this all done this past Monday right? So you're just shy of a week? My first week was bad too & practically resorted to writing things out. Used a lot of hand gestures ( not all nice ones to my husband either!! Lol) to point to what I wanted. I did what I call a baby bird feeding. I had pudding for most of the first week. I'd put it on the spoon, get it to my lips, tip my head back and let it slide in. Seriously. My kids (8 & 16) laughed so hard at me, but it was the only way I was some what comfortable eating. Try that, might help get something in you. I hate soup, so the closest I get to that is spaghetti O's. I did the same thing as with the pudding.

My dentist told me to leave them in for the first couple of days. I didn't like the feeling without for the first week after that either. But now, when I'm home, most of the time I leave my bottoms out and just have my tops in. If you're at the point that you leave them out for a little bit, you might be more comfortable eating without the lowers in. I found I could forget to the spoon a little better that way. I'm just getting to the point where I can chew some soft food a little bit. I mostly cut everything up like I did for my kids when they were learning to eat. It's a mental battle for me because I seriously want to just chomp into a burger or a piece of chicken so bad it makes my mouth water.

Keep reading through old posts on here too. You'll find suggestions that might work as well. Remember your not alone in this battle! This is a great community that will help pick you up for sure. I had all mine done beginning of December and it made me really depressed around Christmas. The people on here helped.

Sending hugs your way! Chin up, you'll get to the point that you're so glad to have done this. Promise!!

Yes I just had it done Monday. I watched all of these people on YouTube that documented their daily journeys and I thought I just wasn't doing something right lol
All of the ones I watched had so much luck with their speech and stuff. I go back to the oral surgeon Monday for a check up and I'm hoping to get these stitches out. And then I've got to call the dentist for an appt cause my whole upper gum is sore where they are rubbing. Hopefully it will get better. If I can learn to half way speak I'll feel so much better. I've got a birthday party for my little one in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping to at least be able to speak even if I haven't mastered eating yet.

You'll be so much better in  two weeks time, you'll see. It's been three months for me now and it feels weird when I have them out now. They've become just part of me. I hated them at first too. Had to go back many time to have them tweaked to fit me better. My bottom ones still get sore on occasion. I have another appointment in Feb. so will get them shaved a little more then. Be sure to use your salt water rinses a lot to help the healing process along. Keeping you in my prayers Katherine.

Thank you so much! I can't wait to be one of these people that can comment later on how awful I thought it was and what helped me. I'm just so glad I found this site. It has helped a lot. Now if I can get better with these things
