36 and a failure , I just got dentures today. As a single 36 yr old woman, with other physical deformities ( Nf1, now I really feel like no man will ever want me. I already had self esteem issues as it was.. I just don’t know how to adjust to this. It had to be done, my teeth were falling out do to bad dental hygiene ( my fault) and genetics. I’m afraid it’s going to deter a man wanting to kiss me. I’m just feeling oh so depressed and am looking for a support community.

Hang in there Jamie, I know it feels like a part of you is taken away when you get your teeth removed but it does get better with time. Look how good your teeth look now you just have to get used to them.

If a man is put off because of your  dentures he is not worth knowing in the first place!

Hi Jamie, I can completely relate. I am 27 years old with no real teeth. I am so thankful that I had a man that stuck with me through the process even though I really thought he was going to leave me (and I couldn't blame him if he wanted to). When my teeth started getting really bad, he would hardly kiss me. But he even said no teeth look better than how my teeth actually looked, and I feel like he has been more affectionate in a way too. So you just have to stay positive, and that amazing, caring, and UNDERSTANDING guy will come your way. Keep us updated on your progress <3

The healing process is different for everyone do lots of warm salt water rinses, I use a wet rag I heat it in a bag for 1 minute then wrap it in a wash cloth and use that to hold against my cheeks it helped the swelling and felt good, I also slept elevated for the first week. Hope that little bit helps

That’s normal by third day will start to go down .. I was lucky I didn’t have swelling but I take anti inflammatory medication .. I was thankful then I have too .. but it’s normal to have more swelling days .. just make sure rinse your mouth with warm salt water at least 5 times a day .. that will help as well .

Jamie,
Hi there! You are not a failure, I promise. I am going to be 33 this year and have to get all my teeth extracted and full dentures. I am too single and worry that no man will love me or want to kiss me. I’m so sorry because I can relate.
