The first week following my upper extractions all my mouth did was make spit. Now I can't make hardly any at all! A full upper denture covers critical salivary glands on the roof of the mouth, right near where the teeth would be. If you're wondering about the slimy goop between the denture plate and the palate that would be saliva. Even worse if you're also using adhesive. I will be buying stocks in Biotene oral moisturizer. I really wish it was flavourless though. I'm going to ask them if they can make it taste like beer or wine. Then at least it would help offset the discomfort.

Heather...I too have dry mouth so bad. I am with you on a different flavor. It makes me shudder as if I sucked on a lemon!!
I have been experimenting on all the different adhesives and have spent a small fortune. My SIL says she uses Fixodent True Feel. I thought what the hell what's one more tube to add to my collection. As soon as I squeezed it on my upper I said to myself...self this looks like it isn't going to hold for crap! So a bright light suddenly filled the bathroom and I stared at my blow dryer. Yep....put a line all the way around the denture and across the top and turned on the blow dryer and melted it. Stuck it in my mouth and moved it around a bit and it stayed in ALL day!!!! And when I took it out there was no slimy goo on the roof of my mouth or in the pockets where my teeth once were at. So will continue to keep doing this until it stops working or they take the True Feel and stop making it and then if I have to resort to Amazon my venture will continue. ....I say this because I bought the last tube at Walmart and couldn't find it at Walgreen's or the other Walmarts here. The saga lives on.....

Jani, you are the cleverest of all! I'm happy for you that you found something that works. I think preheating it like that probably helped it set quicker in your mouth and form a better seal. The key is finding a way to eliminate the slimy goo which it seems you have done. in search of the silver bullet. I bow to your greatness. :)

Lol beer or wine flavored Biotene. That's funny. Can we do Chardonnay for warm months and Cabernet for cooler months? :)
